Safely Put Away But Where?

Yesterday was sunny, cloudy, and windy. The high got to 17.7C but it cooled off quickly when the clouds rolled in. There were rain showers in the evening. This morning it is sunny and 2C. We are to have showers, sunshine, wind and a high of 12C.

Lifestyle

I went and ordered the dishwasher and it will arrive on May 18. My neighbour is going to remove the old one so it can be taken away and install the new one. The plumbing company associated with the furniture company is so busy they don't return the calls to do the work.

I was wanting to nap yesterday afternoon as I had slept poorly the night before. I made myself sweep all the floors and wash the kitchen one. Elliott is really shedding right now and I should be doing the floors every day.

I didn't do outside work as the wind was, once again, from the north and cold. It was warm in the sheltered spots which was nice. But the yard work would have been chilly and I still couldn't spray.

My glucose readings were low yesterday. I was mainly hungry all day. I lost 1.6 lbs also which means that I needed to eat on time. I did eat more vegetables at dinner but couldn't eat everything on my plate as I got full.

Sewing

The foot pedal was returned to Amazon yesterday. It did not fit my machine as the seller had indicated.

More research dug up that I can buy the cords with a plug-in attached and use the bakelite foot pedal and end that goes into the machine. I will talk to the service man about that option. I would love to keep the old pieces if I can.

After a huge struggle getting the bobbin in correctly, I did a bit of testing on the Featherweight. I would have to use a seam guide to get a scant 1/4" for quilting. Good to know.

I played with the 1/4" foot on the Diamond and it does a scant 1/4". I would check it again before I piece with it. I even tried gluing the seams together and what a game changer. I ended that session on a high note.

I pressed one piece of the placemat fabric using the heat press. I misted the fabric with water rather than Best Press and it does the job perfectly. I am ready to cut out 1" strips for 2 place mats. Pressing is going to take some time but I'm willing to work on it.

I was on the hunt for my colour wheel (book). I found a strip of the grey snowflake fabric in the stash and cut it into corner squares. I didn't find what I was looking for and will have to hunt again today for it. I hate not finding items that I put safely away. In the process of hunting, I dug out the Couture course and took a peek inside. I am ready to learn how to put in zippers.

Starching - I am thinking that when I starch I will put the drying rack in the tub on days it can't be outside. I have a big jetted tub that the rack will easily fit into. Thanks for the idea left in the comments yesterday.

Knitting

I knit on the vest last night and I have 16 rows left before I cast off the 2nd shoulder seam.

It will take some time to sew the seams neatly and pick up the stitches to do the ribbing around the neck and arms. I'm ready to spend the time on it. I'm really thinking of making it for myself as I love this pattern. I am coming to the part where I need to slow down, think, count, and redo if I'm not happy with it.

Thoughts

I finished binging on Bernadette Bonner's YouTube videos. It has left me wanting to learn more sewing techniques. I am going to dig in the stash for fabric to make an Edwardian skirt and blouse for the dolls. I will use some of the techniques on them. As the seams are short, I can try some some hand sewing. This will happen a bit later on as I am trying to get quilting projects ready. I can do the hand sewing part when baby sitting the embroidery part of the quilt.

I am finding I am dragging my heals this month. I've been fighting a funk as this month is a difficult one for me. It is the month we got married in. I have been thinking about it the past few days which makes me miss the Spousal Unit a lot. I push myself to do things and need to get out more so I don't sit and have a pity party.

Today

I am going to do bedding, some cleaning, and washing more floors. This afternoon I am spending time in the sewing room as it is too cold outside to work. I pick up grandson from school at 5 pm and have dinner with family. I may not knit tonight.

Until the next time...............................................
