I am going to go down a new trail in 2025. I am going to focus on making what I want to make vs focusing on sewing down the stash. I am sorting through the stash keeping only what I want to sew. The rest is being eliminated. I am also letting go of projects I no longer am interested in and no longer want to organize never to touch them until I organize once again.
I want to work on having a calm and tidy spaces which I will enjoy creating and working in. I want it to feel less like a storage space and more like spaces to create in. I want my spaces to be below my clutter and stress thresholds.
My focus for 2025 will include making some quilts, sewing for the dolls, piping for daughter, and making items for the craft bazaar. I want to do it in calm environments which are neat and tidy. I want to buy less this year and use up what I have kept after doing a huge declutter/purge. I will keep track of how much fabric I sew in my spreadsheet but it is only for a reference. My big goal is to enjoy each project I make using the fabric I have chosen to keep.
Fabric Sewn and Bought
January - sewed 5.35 meters and bought 1 meter.
February -sewed 2.25 meters and bought 3.05 meters.
March -sewed 3.45 meters and bought 3.55 meters
April - sewed 5.25 meters and bought 1.35 meters
June - sewed 3.85 meters and bought .25 meters
June
May was a busy month sewing smaller projects. I got the fabric I bought in March sewn up except for the slow sewing project I am working on. I also finished sewing 1 piece from the stash that I cut out in March. The dolls got a lot of outfits sewn in May.
I went through the Christmas cottons I have left on the shelf. Though less than I have ever had, I need to focus on it for the next while. I did eliminate some orphans. I made a few plans. I know that I will need to buy more interfacing and fusible fleece. I am not sure about batting at this time. I will probably have to buy some fabric to finish a couple of projects I have planned.
My focus for June is to sew Christmas fabrics and piping. I would also like to start a quilt as I am ready for that. It won't be done in a hurry as I want to enjoy it.

May
April was a busy month with volunteering. It was a cold month. I let a lot of things get to me and realized that I can't control a lot of what I was worrying about. So I focused on what I can control.
May is going to be a sew up the rest of the fabric I bought this year. I have sewn 60% of it already and have 40% left to sew. It is doable if I focus on it. Most will be small projects that use up the .25 - .5 meters of fabric left from other projects. That will be a total of 3.35 meters of fabric bought and sewn. I have to buy a meter of fabric for a project and I want to finish it in May.
I am hoping to launder and starch the fabric for the Irish Chain quilt early in May. If I can do that, then I can start cutting out the pieces and sew some of the blocks together.
I am allowing myself to buy some yarn from Denmark. I love one of their brands and want to have enough to make 2 pairs of socks. After that I will have to knit the sock yarn I have in tagged to be knit this year.

April
I spent the first part of March recovering from my low functioning thyroid. Once I could go an afternoon without napping, I spent my time preparing for the retreat. I actually over prepared for the retreat and finished all the project and then made piping and embroidered on the western shirt.
April is going to be another busy month as I want to continue sewing on projects that require me to use fabric from the stash. I will allow myself a few fat quarters for a project I want to design and make as I had an idea spark in my brain for the class that was held at the retreat.

March
February was a rough month for me. I caught a cold and thought I was exhausted from having it while shovelling snow, slush and ice for the better part of the month. It wasn't. It was from my thyroid being low and me needing a stronger dose of Synthroid. It was hard for me to do much of anything as all I wanted to do was sleep. When I had the energy I was outside clearing off the driveway and sidewalk.
The fabric I bought is for piping and a doll's quilt I want to make when I attend a retreat at the end of March. I allowed myself to buy the fabric as I have been sewing from the stash as much as I can.
