Retired and Packing

Work

Saturday was my last day of work. I did get the job done that I had wanted to get done. It was nice to have that out of the way.
Am I happy to retire? Yes and no.
Yes, because I don't have to be on the cement floor 40 hours a week. My legs get tired of it.
Yes, because I don't have to put undue stress on myself to get a lot of things done in a day or a week.
Yes, because I don't have to work until 9 p.m. three times a month.
No, because I will miss the staff and the customers. I truly enjoyed working with and for them.
No, because I won't see what is delivered to the store before it goes out on the floor.
No, because I may miss the stimulation of doing things to keep my brain active.
Overall though, I am happy to retire (for the third time) and do the things I want to do.

Packing

The house is a mess and I am fighting it all the way. I sort and toss into the garbage or thrift shop boxes what we don't want to take with us. We have friends coming to get items we don't want to move from us. I could scream but I am holding it together. I will finish packing boxes from around the house and then do the kitchen. The mess will get worse before it gets better. I do realize how much I hate mess when we move.

Elliott

We have to get Elliott a soft sided carrier for the plane ride. I have to put dog pee pads into it and figure out how to transport a bit of water and food for him to eat at the airports between flights. He has been throwing up hair balls during the night which is not usual for him. I'm hoping it is a season change thing. He is eating as usual and is fine during the day.
We have 9 days until we leave and there is plenty to do. I will post if there is time. If not, I will start up again when we are settled in Nova Scotia.

SOLD and Moving Forward

We woke up the October 20 to find this
Our house officially sold the day before and it was great to see the sign up. People have told me that they wanted to view the house but it was pending. It seemed we were a bit of a secret. But it is sold and we can move on.
We have also sold our vehicles to a friend. That is another item off our list. I have a few items to give away and the rest will be packed and taken to Nova Scotia.
I am officially off work on Saturday and am looking forward to retirement. That is, after the house is packed onto the truck and heading to Nova Scotia. I am ready to do my thing at home now.
I am off work for two days and need to do some running around for items and pack up more boxes. I am aiming for two boxes maybe three these days off. On Sunday, I start doing major packing every day.
I may not get any posts written until we are in Nova Scotia. It will be the beginning of a new adventure for us.
Until the next time....................

Nearly SOLD

Fall has arrived in our part of the world. There has been frost a couple of mornings, rain/snow depending on your elevation, and cooler winds. Today is suppose to be one of our warmer days with some sunshine and then it will be cloudy.

Lifestyle

Our house is near being SOLD. The owners did their own home inspection and their realtor and themselves told us they found nothing wrong with it. They love the house and are envisioning themselves living in it.
We are in the process of buying a newer fully finished home in Nova Scotia. When our buyers remove their conditions and we get the final copy of their contract with us, we can finish our contract on that house.
Packing has begun and I have the sewing room and electronics almost all packed. One more box and I am done. I packed the sewing machines yesterday and only have the embroidery hoops, a few odds and ends, and the small TV to pack. Then it is on to the guest room, linen closet and pictures. I have to set up a box for knick knacks. By Oct. 28, I hope to be down to packing the kitchen and closing up a few boxes here and there. We move out on Nov 8.

Sewing

Starting a store project sold the house and I never got it finished. It will be done next year.
The new house has a 13 x 25' room in the basement I will claim for a sewing room. I will set up a corner for jewelry making and my yarn stash.
Other than my sewing cabinet, ironing board and small table for holding pressing items, I will not have any other furniture. I need to buy a chair, cutting table, and a couple of items for housing notions.

Knitting

I decided not to take the cube that held my yarn as I was told it doesn't move well. I will get another one that I can put the yarn into. I did pack all the fabric containers that goes in the cube to house items in the closet. I will buy new containers for the yarn in a neutral color (mine are lime green).

Today

I work today and tomorrow and would like to sort paper work in the evenings. With all the purging we are doing, I am hoping to take only the necessary paper work with us to Nova Scotia.
Until the next time......................
