A Day At The Soccer Field

Good Morning from Halmstad. Yesterday was another lovely sunny day with very little wind. The high got to about 21C. This morning it is sunny and 11C. Today it is to be another sunny day with a high of 21C.

Yesterday we were at the soccer fields all day. We walked over in the morning only to find out training had been cancelled. The coaches were needed to train the professional team which is understandable. We walked home, had lunch, and then walked back.

Training was, once again interesting. The trainer was the development coordinator and he was great. The drills they did were amazing. The boys had to really think at all times. From trying to score to turning and defending was great to watch. They had cones down so the boys played a certain area of the field. You play your position and pass the ball when you get near your line.

Each time we walk along the front of the sports center we walk past this manhole. It is gorgeous to look at and I finally remembered to take a picture of it.

The sports center is huge. It houses a swimming pool, an ice arena, restaurants, convention centres, and other businesses. It is 2 stories high and quite modern. Outside are at least 6 soccer fields and a skateboard park.

We headed back to the Asian Food restaurant for dinner. I had sweet and sour chicken and it was the best I've ever had. The ingredients are fresh and all cooked in a wok. The sauce wasn't too sweet either which I liked. I have about half of it left for today. Grandson joined us for dinner and said the chicken fried rice was the best he had ever eaten.

We then watched a game between Halmstad and Helsingborg. This is the Halmstad team.

This is the Helsingborg team.

How they play is exactly what the boys have been working on in training. They keep moving all the time and are watching the ball and the other players. The ball is passed quickly and quite efficiently. It was a great game to watch. Halmstad lost 1 - 2. The boys had to choose a position and then critique it with their room mate before meeting with their coach. A good learning activity for them.

We got home around 7 pm and both of us were tired. We made ourselves stay up until after 8:30 pm in which we crashed for the night.

Everyone from the Halmstad team has been so kind to us. They come and talk to us every day to make sure we are comfortable and enjoying ourselves. We have made friends with a mother from the Vancouver area. Her son is 14 years old. She is staying at a hotel near the train station which is on the same route we are on.

I didn't knit yesterday as I was too tired when I got home from the soccer fields. I will try to knit today if I don't go with family to the mall. If I stay home I will do the trip to the yarn shop which is only 1.5 km from the house. It will do my hip good to walk there and back again. I may even stop at a grocery store and get a few items to restock the fridge.

Until the next time.......................................................................
