Two Small Projects Completed

 Yesterday was more cloudy than sunny with the sun coming out in the afternoon. The high got to 17C. This morning it is cloudy and 13C. Today is supposed to be rainy with a high of 20C. 

Lifestyle

I was out the door in good time to go shopping. I was actually early as some of the stores don't open until 10 am. I changed my plans and started at Walmart. I got the items I needed and snooped around a bit. I did notice the soil I buy is not as expensive as at other places. I will probably need to get 2 bags later this month. 

My next stop was Canadian Tire. I went in looking for pots to plant tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers into. The associate looked them up and they were in the garden center. I bought more deer deterrent spray as I will need it. I went to the garden center where I bought 3 pots and 3 6-packs of marigolds. 

My last stop was to get buttons and a fat quarter of fabric at the quilt shop on my way home. Then it was home. 

I did plant the marigolds and may regret that. I may have to cover them or dig them up and plant them in cups and put into the garage. They do not tolerate frost like I thought they did.

I was home at noon and quite tired. I was getting sore and starting to feel cranky. I was determined not to fall asleep and didn't. I slept longer last night than I have for a long time. At 5 am I stretched and had another crack in back. I am assuming it was my SI joint. I fell back asleep for over an hour as I was almost pain free. 

Sewing

I got green buttons for the sweater and sewed them on after I ate lunch. I quite like it with the skirt. 

Once that job was done, I decided to sew on the dress. I cut out new ties and made them up. I replaced them on the dress before I did anything else. I then proceeded to serge side seams on the dress and sleeves. They were pinned and basted in place before stitching. I did not finish the sleeve seams. A first for me. I sewed up the side seams and hemmed the dress. At the point I was done the dress and out of energy.

The dress is well drafted and fits well. I am not sure if I will make it again as I have a lot of patterns I still want to sew. But I will put the pattern pieces into a folder just in case I want to make it again. 

I still have most of the fat quarter left to use up. I am not sure what I will make from it. I may use it to figure out the next doll's quilt. It is a flying geese pattern that is weirdly made. I want to do it as I learned using the ruler I got for Christmas. 

Knitting

I pushed myself to knit on the socks last night. I got half of the gusset knit which surprised me. 

Once the gusset is done, it will be plain knitting to the toe. Not need to worry about decreasing every other row on both sides. Just plain knitting and the ribbing. 

I checked my order from Denmark and it is supposed to be delivered today or tomorrow. I will check tomorrow afternoon to see if it has arrived. Once the socks I am working on are done, I will work on the blue ones I set aside. 

Thoughts

    The crack I had this morning has lessened the pain a lot. There are still muscles that are sore and I am hedging that I will have dry needling next week. I keep wondering if the tight muscles are causing the SI joint to go out of position. A question to ask the physio therapist. 

    I was happy that I went shopping yesterday. I had a chance to look at the price of items that I need to buy for gardening. The planters I bought are smaller than the ones I was going to buy but they are perfect for the job. I still need to buy 2-3 more so I can plant vegetables on the deck. What I put in the vegetable boxes will be items that don't do well in containers. The deer like those vegetables so I wait and see if what I am doing will deter the deer. I have a plan in place to add more deterrent to the boxes. I was going to use fish oil on cloth but will spray the fabric with the spray I bought and hang it in the boxes so I can spray them on a regular basis. My goal is to spray every night after I water the plants.

    I have been putting off starching the fabric for the quilt. Part has been the weather and part has been dealing with huge pieces of fabric. I will get it done even if I have to hang it to dry in the bathtub. 

Today

I am going to do some housework and fold laundry this morning. I am going to work on the purse today which means hand sewing the lace down. I need to visit my friend also. I will knit tonight. It is going to be a quieter day for me.
