Yesterday started with a burst of sunshine and then turned cloudy. There were a few showers during the day. The high was 13C. This morning it is cloudy and 7C. Today is supposed to be a mix of sunshine, clouds, and showers with a high of 20C. Rain is to arrive tonight.
Lifestyle
I spent the morning folding laundry, taking out cardboard to put into recycling, and cooking a chicken and rice bowl. I was in considerable pain with my SI joint (and other parts) out of place. I hobbled around in a lot of pain. It was really hard to go up and down the stairs. I did what I could and sat between jobs.
I did do some more on the family tree. As I went back on one branch and found one of the women was classified as a Salem witch. I didn't do any research on her as I had run out of time.
I went to bed in good time hoping I could stretch the soreness out of my body. I actually lucked out and had at least 4 and probably 6 good cracks happen in rapid succession. I put the SI joint in with 2 good cracks and I think I put my lower back into place. I slept well last night as my pain level was low.
Sewing
I managed to stand up and cut out some of this month's projects. It was painful to stand for too long but I made myself do it and get down on the floor to clean up the fabric scraps that missed getting into the trash bin. I did that job and even go up quite easily.
My goal this month is to try and get all of the fabric I bought in 2025 sewn up. It is doable if I focus on it rather than flitter about.
1. Doll's skirt. This is a repeat of the pink and yellow skirt I made last month with a twist. I cut out two extra side front panels to make pockets.
The pockets are in the plain blue I made the jacket from. A outfit is emerging. The two small pieces of scrap are in the pile for the quilters group.
2. Doll's dress. I sat down and cut out the pattern pieces and taped them together. As I looked at the pile I was almost certain I didn't have enough fabric. I spent a lot of time laying out the pieces and won with enough scraps to go into the trash bin.
This is a 1930's Hooverette dress that I wanted to try out. I may regret my choice when I start to serge all those seams.
3. Reusable bag. This is left over linen/cotton blend from the bag I made in March. I had enough fabric to make a bag and add this lace trim daughter sent me.
I have a fat quarter to make piping and need to buy .5 meter of fabric for the lining. There is a lot of hand stitching to do as the lace needs to be secured to the fabric. At this point, I have all the fabric I bought in March cut out and ready to sew. I still have more fabric to cut out -- 2 gift bags and 2 .5 meters of fabric for doll clothes. I also have the quilt fabric upstairs ready to launder. I am getting there slowly but surely.
Knitting
I turned the heel on sock #1 last night.
I then knit 31 rows of the heel flap on sock #2.Once that was done, I knit on the doll's sweater and have the body ready to cast off. I have to make a decision if I will do a purl row before casting off (like the sleeves). The person who designed the pattern left the final cast off instructions incomplete.
This project could be done tonight if all goes well.
Thoughts
I have no idea how my SI joint went out this time. Nor do I know why I had so many cracks in my back when I stretched in bed. At first I blamed it on the weather but soon realized it wasn't that. I hope that when I have physio in 11 days we can get everything back in place properly and I can get on with the things I need to do.
Though I didn't go outside yesterday, I noticed how bundled up people were. The municipality was out fixing a broken water line and the flag people were walking around a lot to keep warm. Traffic was limited in our area which was nice. Only local traffic which meant no big truck traffic.
Once again I had a nap after lunch. I know I have been sleeping and eating poorly due to the pain I have had this week. I also wonder if it is my thyroid needing a bit stronger medication. At the moment I am saying it is the pain that is exhausting me. I did eat better yesterday and had a decent sleep last night. We wait and see what happens today.
Today
I am out this morning to make sandwiches. Once home, I hope to do a few things upstairs. I have a few things to put away, some laundry to do, and some general tidying up to work on. I would like to sew this afternoon and knit tonight. I don't need to go out to get anything at this time.
Until the next time.....................................................................
I empathize with you and the back pain, as I am having that, too. I will follow to see what you do about your pain; it may be helpful for me, and I'll rejoice in any relief you get.
