A Busy Day In The Kitchen

 Yesterday was dull, grey, and wet. The high got to 16C. This morning the sun is shining and 8C. Today is supposed to be mainly cloudy with north winds and a high of 12C. 

Lifestyle

I had flower delivery at 9 am yesterday (just before the rain started). I am so spoiled by family. These are from daughter. 

I spent the better part of the day cooking. I steamed 21 eggs and while the first batch was steaming, I peeled and cooked 3 pounds of potatoes. I finely diced onions, peeled eggs, cut them half to make a big tray of devilled eggs. The yolks were worked on so they can be stuffed today. I chopped more eggs for the potato salad. Diced cooked potatoes and got the salad made. 

Once done that job and getting the kitchen cleaned up, I defrosted the ice maker in the fridge. I am going to get it looked at as I think either the temperature sensor or the control panel needs to be replaced. 

I kept looking out the windows at the rain. It was a heavy rain until later in the afternoon when it suddenly brightened up and stopped. I have a feeling that we had about 1.5" of rain fall. I need to get a rain gauge. The ditch was running good and water was puddling where it puddles in heavy rain storms. It definitely wasn't an outside day. 

Sewing

I didn't sew yesterday. When I got done in the kitchen, I was tired and it was almost mid afternoon. I am still thinking about what I will make next for the dolls.  

Knitting

I knit 11 rounds on the socks last night. I couldn't settle down to knit and had to force myself to knit. I think part of it was I was paying more attention to the program I was watching on tv. 

Thoughts

    I was sore when I finished cooking but not in a lot of pain. I did put heat on the sore spots to help them relax. I also had a good crack when stretching in bed. I wondered if it was my back as my SI joint is seated. As long as I am cracking things into place and having less pain, I can keep going until I have physio on Wednesday. 

    The yarn I ordered from Denmark has made it through customs and is on its way. Delivery date is Wednesday; 10 days after I ordered it. I won't have the socks I am working on done by then but it will be close. I am focusing on socks for Christmas presents which means using up the yarn I bought last fall. 

     I have decided that I will move my knitting to the basement when it gets hot out. I can knit in the coolness down there. I will be fixing up the area so I can watch tv while I knit. I slow down knitting when it is hot and am going to see if knitting in the basement will keep production up. I have a lot of socks to knit between now and Christmas. 

Today

I have to do the balance sheet first thing. I also have to stuff the devilled eggs, cook my last meal from Chef's Plate. Grandson is coming over to move the dirt from the back of the shed to the door so I can start filling pots. I am out to family's for dinner. I have to cover the marigolds as it is going to be cool tonight. Not sure if I will get any sewing or knitting done today.
