Another Doll's Dress Started

Yesterday was sunny with a high of 17C. This morning it is clear and 6C. Today is supposed to be a mix of sun and clouds with wind and a high of 15C. It is supposed to start raining tonight.

Lifestyle

As I was getting ready to go to make sandwiches, I turned on Rosie the Robot so she could clean the floors while I was out. I took off thinking I would get through where they were going to work on our road. Not so. I turned around and headed out the back way and took the loop via the highway. As I was pulling up to go to the road to the hall, I saw the person had her sign turned to slow. As I pulled up she turned it to stop. I had to sit and wait. I arrived at the hall in good time considering how many kms I drove and how long I sat at the stop sign. I was the 4th person there not the 2nd.

We got the sandwiches made in good time. I cut and arranged the sandwiches on the trays which I enjoy though I was prepared to make sandwiches. We got done in great time and then lined up to wait for our turn to go. I drove the long way home which was okay as I looked at all the magnolia trees in bloom.

Once home, I had something to drink, put on laundry and set about to clean the two bedrooms. I checked to see what I needed to do and ended up dusting the furniture and washing the windows. Though I had done a good job earlier, the tracks were dirty once again. I also washed the glass so they were clean. The floors are quite clean so I didn't touch them though I will have to do them the next time.

I also changed the mop pad on Rosie and filled her water tank. She is ready to do her job today. The mop pad was quite dirty this time which surprised me.

I sprayed the bush outside the door yesterday and that stuff stinks. It almost drives me out of my own yard. It must be working as the leaves are coming out on the bush. I will give it another spray today. I need to do the hostas and lilies so the deer stay away from them.

Sewing

I started a new doll's pattern which I had seen great reviews on Facebook. I had cut it out on May 1 using up the left over fabric I had bought in March.

I got started and I had to stop and focus on what I was doing. I sewed the 2 front side pieces together. I got that stupid mistake fixed and continued on. I slowly worked through the steps and got it ready to set in the sleeves.

I am thinking of taking the ties out and replacing them with something else. I cut out the pattern piece not knowing they were only half the length they should be. I can't tie a bow in the back only a knot.

The pattern is well drafted and fits the doll well. It isn't hard to sew though I did take a lot of time to put on the collar. Yes, I hand basted it in place. I find that taking time to baste helps me in the long run.

I found the blue buttons and tried them on the rabbit. They are a nice colour but too big. I am sticking with the black ones.

Knitting

I knit on the socks last night and finished knitting the gusset.

I will knit the gusset on sock #2 starting tonight. I haven't decided on what to knit for the dolls. I have the pink yarn ready to go but no pattern chosen.

Thoughts

My Chef's Plate box arrived at almost 6 pm last night. It was delivered in a pick up truck. The driver told me that they got the contract to deliver in our area and that their driver only works until 5:30 pm. This driver is the owner and he was finishing up the delivery after hours. He doesn't want to loose his contract and knew he had food to deliver. I am not really excited that the boxes are being handled by 3 delivery trucks but I am grateful my box was delivered and not left to sit overnight in an unrefrigerated shop.

I slept poorly last night as my brain went into overdrive. Most of what raced through my brain was out of my circle of control. I know most of it is trying to understand what is happening not only in Canada but in the world. There is so much to understand that it is overwhelming and, at times, exhausting.

I did not starch the fabric yesterday as planned. I am going to have to hang it to dry in the bathtub as we are to have showers and rain for the next 5 days. Not what I had planned but it's what is going to have to happen.

Today

I am heading out to shop today as I need some things and I want to get the buttons for the little green sweater. I hope to work on the doll's dress this afternoon unless I decide to starch fabric. I also have to cook dinner. Tonight I hope to knit on the socks.

Until the next time............................................................
