Yesterday was sunny with a high of 14C. This morning it is clear and 1C (frost). Today is supposed to be mix of sun, clouds, and showers with a high of 14C.
Lifestyle
I was going to go to New Minas to shop yesterday but stayed home as I had a parcel being delivered which I could put into the box I was shipping to daughter. Instead, I gathered the garlic, onions, and spade and headed out to the vegetable boxes.
I spent over an hour out there enjoying the sunshine. I weeded each box and smoothed the soil. I put garlic and onions around the edge of each box. I don't care if I get a crop, I am hoping it will deter the deer from eating the vegetables. By the time I was done, I was in a lot of pain but was happy to have the job done. I sat on the deck stairs to rest and most of the pain subsided.
Once inside, I did a few things upstairs and when I sat down for lunch, I was tired. I am not sleeping well again. I relaxed after lunch and had a good nap. When I woke up, I got the box ready to mail and took it to the post office.
Sewing
I have nothing to show for sewing yesterday. I was down in the sewing room playing with fabric and getting the next projects ready to cut out. I got the quilt fabric out and I have twice as much as I need to make the quilt. All is sitting neatly on the cutting table ready for me to begin cutting out and deciding what I need.
I got another doll's quilt pattern and will be making it using scraps from the quilt I am going to make for myself. That will come after I finish my quilt.
Knitting
I finished the heel flap and when I went to turn the heel I realized I hadn't picked up two stitches from the front of the sock. I ripped it back, got the two stitches from the front and reknit the heel flap. I did 2 rows on turning the heel.
Why do I use a lot of markers when I knit socks? I use marker so each sock will have the same number of rows. I put a marker in when I knit 10 rows. You can see the tally marks on the page behind the sock which matches the markers. Putting markers in lets me knit a bunch of rows or rounds without counting. I then only have to count from the marker and tally them on the page. I have been doing this for most of the years I have knit socks. The markers don't bother me when I knit. The last two pairs of socks, I have used the orange markers for sock #1 and the blue for sock #2. It helps me know which sock I am working on.
Thoughts
Spring is coming and I noticed how many blooms the two old Magnolia trees have on them. They are white in colour. The pink ones seem to be later to bloom but still have lots on them. This is the one near my place.
I am still working on my family tree. I have less than 2 months left on my Ancestry subscription and won't renew it until winter. I am learning a lot about my family and ask myself questions as to why they moved from a country to Canada. I also ask why they move from Canada to another country. I will never know though I was told they moved from the Maritimes to do better for themselves.
The item that arrived yesterday was the plate I ordered to replace the one that broke when I shipped it to daughter in December. The first replacement was returned as they put the wrong house number on it. This time, I made sure that it was sent to me and I was ready from the day they filled out the address form to ship it. From the day I ordered until it arrived yesterday was 9 days. I was impressed. Though I won't order from them again as I have no need to, I will have to say they gave me good service this time.
Today
I have to fold laundry, take out cardboard, and cook the last meal in this week's box. I want to work on the rabbit for a bit and then begin to get projects ready to sew. Tonight I will knit on the socks and the doll's sweater. I don't have any plans on going out today.
