A Day Of Changed Plans

Yesterday was cloudy and sunny with a high of 20C. This morning it is cloudy and 5C. Today is supposed to be sunny with clouds with a high of 15C.

Lifestyle

I changed my morning plans. As I was getting ready to go get groceries, daughter-in-law informed me that we are to get our houses pressure washed. Not sure when it will happen, I prepped for it. That meant taking the screens out of the windows. Which meant I needed to wash the window openings, inside of the windows and the screens. Upstairs was easy to do as I have done them all once or twice this year. Downstairs was another matter.

The windows downstairs are somewhat ignored. I do wash them on the inside but don't dismantle them. I did that yesterday. I had to deal with black mold which took time to get rid of. The screens had green on them but other than that, they were in better shape than I had thought. The one I thought would be the dirtiest was actually the cleanest. The hardest part was having to stand on a ladder to do them.

In all, I cleaned and prepped 15 windows; 9 upstairs and 6 downstairs. Only the 2 bathroom windows weren't done and I will do them if I have time. I was tired as I was up and down the ladder a lot. Actually I used the ladder for 7 of the windows. But my SI joint isn't acting up so it is still in place.

While washing the basement windows I noticed that my hosta plants are growing rapidly. From knobs to plants in 24 hours.

After grocery shopping I sat for a bit and when I checked my iPad, it said a Pope had been chosen. I turned on the news to watch even though I am not Catholic. Like many others, I was interested in who was chosen. It was interesting to watch the crowds and to hear him speak even if I couldn't understand a word.

At dinner time I had to run out and pick up a flower arrangement that family had given me for Mother's Day. It was done early (delivery was to be Saturday). I love it and am enjoying it.

It has made me decide on the house colours -- grey walls with dark blue and touches of yellow in the main part of the house.

I did not sew or knit yesterday as I was not in the mood. I just let it go and will start again today. I think part of it was the house being too warm and humid. The dehumidifier is running on a regular basis now.

Thoughts

I am spraying deer deterrent on the front plants every night. So far no deer have touched the plants. I even checked last night as it was bright outside (moon and neighbour's outside lights on). I was talking to a friend who has had the deer destroy both his vegetable plot and some of his plants. He told me they don't like daffodils but love tulips. No wonder my friend daffodils are still blooming. He isn't sure what he is going to do this year and we talked about my plan.

The rhododendrons are starting to come into bloom. The magnolia trees are in full bloom and I noticed a tree in full blossom. Things are moving quickly here and soon the apple trees will be in bloom. The only thing we have to monitor is frost. It can come until the end of May, early June.

I am getting ready to spend a bit of time cleaning up around the outside of the shed. I want to get the solar lights and the two flower tubs I have out. I also need to trim the rose bush so it can be healthy. Once that is done, I will just need to wait and plant flowers on the long weekend in May.

Today

I am off to the city with daughter-in-law for the morning. We need to do two stores and then home as grandson needs to be picked up at noon. I will try to sew this afternoon and knit tonight.

Until the next time........................................................
