Two Projects Completed

Yesterday started off cloudy and then the sun shone. By late afternoon, it was cloudy and it rained hard. The high got to 18C. This morning it is cloudy, damp, and 10C. Today is supposed to be a mix of sun, clouds, showers (thunder also) with a high of 14C.

Lifestyle

I was out to the community hall to make sandwiches early in the morning. It was my turn to cut the sandwiches and put them on the trays. I enjoy that job as I like for the trays to look nice. Daughter-in-law was there to sweep and mop the hall floor. I went out and gave her a huge hug as I could see she was in pain. She had jarred her sore knee the day before and was suffering. I know that feeling. She is so amazing as she does the job even when in a lot of pain.

Once home, I sat and had my second cup of coffee. Then it was time to get busy and do things. I laundered the fabric for the quilt I want to make. I tidied up and when that was done, I went outside to pull the weeds at the front of the house. That wasn't a hard job and I noticed the two hostas are poking through the soil.

I noticed that the deer are continuing to eat the bush by the front door. I went in and got the deterrent spray from the garage, shook it up and sprayed the plant. That stuff stinks and I could smell it for hours afterwards. I will have to do it again tomorrow as I am sure the rain we had washed it off. If I was a deer and smelled that, I would not come near this yard.

My friend texted me to go for a walk with her and I declined. Sure glad I did as it started to pour rain shortly thereafter. I don't think she went either.

Sewing

I decided to sew yesterday afternoon and chose the doll's skirt. I did not measure down 2 7/8" from the top but 1 3/4". I didn't press it over but cut it on that line, serged that raw edge and turned it under 1/4".

I methodically sewed the skirt following the directions. It isn't a hard sew but one you need to keep track of which piece is sewn to which piece. I had it finished in a couple of hours.

I do like the pockets as they tied the skirt in with the jacket.

Daughter told me that she was ready for a dog show and could put treats into the skirt pocket. I got out one of the dogs and took this picture for a laugh.

Daughter then told me "Best of Show". We had a good giggle while texting.

I watched a video where the lady was making a bag using a patchwork idea. I watch her videos regularly for ideas. She cut two strips of fabric 1.5" wide by 20" long. She folded them like I do the handles and uses them to tie the bag closed. I went down and did that for the purple bag I am going to make. She also cut 1" squares at the base to box the bag and said that the boxing was 2" wide. Something to remember when I make my next bag. I do like this lady's ideas though she doesn't always press like I do.

Knitting

I did knit late in the afternoon and almost finished the doll's sweater before dinner. The hardest part was picking up the stitches to knit the sleeves. Harder yet was remember to knit one row which I forgot on sleeve #2 and had to unknit two rows to do that. But it is finished ready for buttons.

I had more than enough yarn and will be keeping what is left as I may need it for contrast in another project. I can't get this yarn any more.

I also knit the heel flap on sock #2. I turned the heel and had to go back as I had uneven numbers of stitches left on each side. I carefully unknit until I found my mistake and finished it at 9 pm.

I am now ready to pick up the stitches along the heel flap and knit the gusset. I am about half done the socks.

Thoughts

I had a lot less pain yesterday as my SI joint is back in place. What pain I had was muscle pain. l may have to go back to doing the floor exercises (yoga) to help stretch them. I know which muscles hurt the most and they are the usual ones which annoys me.

I am wondering if my thyroid medication has peaked and that I may need a stronger dose. I do feel tired once again but not like before. Just lacking in energy. I will know later this month as I have to have blood work and then see the doctor.

I have to do some weeding in the yard. I have the side of the house and around the shed to do. I also need to prune the rose bush to remove the dead stalks. It is going to live but will be smaller this summer. I am not behind but will be if I don't get out there.

Today

I need to do the balance sheet, pay some bills, and order a couple of things from Amazon. I need to launder the sheets. I will push to get things done. This afternoon I hope to work on the rabbit's head. I am nearing the end of this project. I will knit tonight. I plan on staying home today.

Until the next time..........................................................
