A Day of Slowness To Heal

Yesterday was dull, grey, and wet. The high got to 20C. This morning it is dull and grey and 13C. Today is supposed to be dull, grey, and chances of showers. The high is to get to 20C.

Lifestyle

Yesterday morning I decided that it was going to be a rest day for me. I was going to let my body relax after being in so much pain and let it heal. I chose to fold laundry and put it away. I cleaned the bathroom, and tidied up the kitchen. I sat between jobs so my body could rest.

After lunch, I walked down the driveway and picked up the bag of flyers. Just before dinner I took the bag of garbage to the curb for pick up. I moved at a nice pace and allowed my body to enjoy walking with little pain. I went out between rain storms and enjoyed the warmth. I also sprayed the bush with deer deterrent as it has its leaves coming out.

I slept well last night and didn't wake until 4:15 am. I haven't done that for a long, long time. I then went back to sleep and didn't wake up until after 7 am. It was the best sleep I've had and my body did a lot of healing while I slept. My pain level this morning is low.

Sewing

I did sew yesterday and chose to hand sew lace onto a piece of fabric that will become a bag. I sat in a comfortable chair in the family room, turned on the tv and watched shows about people in Britain who were looking for family information through genealogy. I really enjoyed it as I could listen to it and watch when I wanted to.

The hand stitching is slow work as I am taking tiny stitches. I got half of the top of the bag done. I changed thread colours doing first the green, then the lilac and finally the dark pink.

I did get up and walk around so I wouldn't get stiff. It also gave my eyes a rest from doing tiny stitches. There is a lot of hand stitching on this project. Once the top is finished, I have the sides and around the bottom pieces to hand stitch down. I may even tack some parts in the middle so it will lay flat.

Did I enjoy an afternoon of hand stitching? I certainly did. I won't do a couple of hours a day on it but will pick it up and 30 minutes on it as often as I can.

Knitting

I got the 2nd sock's gusset completed. I had to unknit part of it as I forgot to decrease one row. I wasn't paying attention and knew fixing it was the right thing to do.

The last markers are in where I start to count the rows for the foot. This part is easy as I don't have to think about decreasing. When I start the toes, I have to move stitches from the back of the sock to the front which I will remember to do.

Thoughts

I have been thinking a lot about what is going on in Canada lately. I am relaxing more as I watch how things are unfolding. I stopped researching about moving to Europe (yes I did do that) when I realized how things are moving here in Canada. I accept there will be bumps in the road and things won't be easy for the next while. But, I don't feel stressed about it like I did.

My body enjoyed a day of rest and healing. It really needed me to stop pushing it as it was rebelling. I will slowly add more to my list of things to do and back off if I get a lot of pain. I feel like my SI joint is well seated at this time and hopefully it will stay like that.

I looked out the window yesterday and can see the leaves are coming out on the trees. They have turned from a reddish colour to green. It happened suddenly. I did notice the larch have their needles back on them which is a good sign of spring being here.

I have come up with a plan for the hedge. I will hire someone to edge it on the house side, put down edging I have in the shed, add mulch to it (after it is weeded). I have some bags of rubber mulch in the shed that can be spread in a light layer under part of the hedge and then bark mulch put on top. I have asked the person who mows my lawns to do it and if he can't I will hire my neighbour if he wants the job. Somehow the job will get done.

Today

I am going to go grocery shopping this morning as I need some groceries. I would like to do a bit of housework when I get home and then sew this afternoon. I want to cut out a couple of doll clothes items and then do some hand sewing. Tonight I will knit on the socks. I am not going to over do it today so my body can continue healing.

Until the next time.........................................................
