Job Done and Muscles Sore

Yesterday was cloudy until late afternoon when we had some sunshine. The high got to 16C. This morning it is mainly cloudy and 8C. Today is suppose to be a mix of sun and clouds with a high of 20C.

Lifestyle

I painted for over 3 hours yesterday. I had to cut in and roll the two walls and it was slow going. I was up and down the ladder many, many times and then sat on the floor for what seemed ages. The job is done.

One of the issues was the light yesterday. It was hard to paint the window wall. It was equally as hard to take a picture of it.

I was very sore when I got done. Mainly muscles that screamed at being over worked. I cleaned up and sat with heat on my hip for 2 hours.

I watched the Miss Rodeo Canada speeches yesterday as daughter had made 2 of the contestants dresses. There were 2 speeches I enjoyed and the rest were not that good. The outfits were mainly dark and if the girls wore a dark hat, they blended into the darker wall behind them. Daughter and I talked about colour ideas for next year as the speeches will b held in that room.

I did get up and walk around and decided that I needed to get busy and exercise the hip. I took recycling out to the bins in the garage and sorted it into the right bins. Nothing went out for pick up today as I didn't have enough. I made dinner and cleaned up the kitchen. Not a lot but it did help the muscles in my hip.

I did a lot of stretching when I went to bed. It was hard to do as I was sore. But it paid off as I have very little pain this morning.

Sewing

I did make it down to the sewing room. I marked where I wanted the snaps on the dress and got 2 of the 4 sets hand sewn on. That was it.

Knitting

I finished the inside of the socks so the loose ends were buried. Once done that I cast on and started to knit the second sock. I got quite a bit done on the cuff.

Thoughts

I have to rethink how much I paint in a day. Doing 2 walls in the spare bedroom is too much especially if I have to cut in and roll on the same day. I am going to have to do less space at one time. When I get the room ready to paint the rest of it, I will have to break it up so I do half of what is left at a time.

I am fighting with my weight. I am keeping track of what I eat and not over doing it. My weight has gone up. I think part is from working hard (muscle) and part is from the pain. I will stay focused on eating properly.

The fridge decided to act up again. I have emptied it and am using the mini fridge once again. The repair technician comes on Monday so here is hoping it can be fixed. If not, I have to get a new fridge.

Elliott is in a snot this morning. I filled his automatic feeder and he refused to eat his food. He has talked to me a mile a minute and when I looked in the pantry, he watched me and then started to eat his breakfast. Something was annoying him about the pantry. He will be fine now.

Today

I have to do the balance sheet and then get my hair cut. Once home, I need to start cleaning the house. I would like to sew the remaining snaps on the dress and start the doll's quilt. Tonight I will knit on the socks.

Working On Finishing Projects

Yesterday was another lovely sunny day with a high of 17C. This morning it is mostly cloudy and 7C. Today is suppose to be a mix of sun and clouds with a high of 18C.

Lifestyle

Yesterday morning I cleaned the front porch area while waiting for daughter-in-law to pick me up. It is done -- spider webs and grass clippings are gone. She arrived just as I finished the job.

The drive to New Minas was gorgeous. The trees are turning colour making everything vibrant reds, yellows, oranges, and light greens. We admired the scenery both ways.

At New Minas, we did our shopping. I had my list with prices so we did Walmart and Superstore. We did wander through Superstore as it is larger than the one we shop at. The International section is huge and very interesting to browse. I bought 1 Christmas present in that section. Our last stop was for me to get a gallon of paint. We were home at noon and we really enjoyed our trip together.

I was out in the afternoon to get the mail and to go to the bank. It was so nice outside. It is also nice to have the windows open all the time and not having to run the heat pump. My favourite time of the year.

Sewing

I wasn't going to sew as I was tired but I forced myself to do it. I knew I could finish the dress if I focused on it. I did accomplish what I set out to do. Done to the snaps.

I did a lot of hand basting on the dress as the bias strips for the arms is small. Not only does basting keep the piece in place, I don't get poked by pins or frustrated when they fall out and everything shifts on me. When I look at the outfit I see the little girl wearing her dress at the soccer game in Halmstad. I am so glad I chose to do my version of it.

And, yes, she wore a hat with pink flowers on it when they left the pitch.

I have been asked to make this doll's top twice. Once on the straight of grain and the other on the bias. Challenge accepted when I have a bit of time. I need to look in the stash for fabric.

Knitting

I unknit the toe on the sock and reknit it. Much, much better. More rounded this time.

I finished the sock and am ready to work bury the yarn on the inside.

Then on to the second sock.

I see that there is a home business not far from family's. I am going to go for a visit as she carries my favourite knitting needles. I want to snoop shop her yarn to see what she carries.

Thoughts

Daughter-in-law's parent arrive on Friday and they are going to see the change in the trees while they are here. If all goes well, it will be a spectacular show of colour this fall. The past two years have been poor due to the storms we had.

I am ramping up to get a box ready to ship to daughter. It is free shipping Tuesday with Canada post for this month. I have the box out and need to wrap what I have and get a few more items. That means going to Bedford and Dartmouth to shop. It also means placing an Amazon order. I also means doing a bit of sewing.

Today

I need to do the balance sheet and paint the two walls this morning. This afternoon I want to sew the snaps on the doll's dress and start the doll's quilt. Tonight I will bury the yarn in the first sock so it is finished. I may even get the 2nd sock cast on.

Until the next time...............................................................

More Done

Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day with a high of 20C. This morning it is partly cloudy and 12C. Today is suppose to be mix of sun, clouds, and showers with a high of 19C.

Lifestyle

Yesterday morning I rolled paint on the two walls in the spare bedroom. It looks splotchy and I keep saying it is suppose to with one coat of paint. The tan keeps showing through as it is darker than the grey.

As I had paint left in the container I was using, I continued on and painted half of the door wall. I had to stop as the bed was in the way.

The paint looks grey in this room as it is the darkest room in the house. The window faces north. But, it is brighter now than when it was tan.

I have used up almost a gallon of paint in September. There isn't enough left to finish the bedroom. I am pleased with what I got done in September.

My hip wasn't too bad while painting but it did get sore in the evening. I had a hard time settling down to sleep. I got about 4 cracks in my back at 10:30 pm and then a crack at midnight. That one was my SI joint seating properly. I slept after that as the pain was almost gone.

Sewing

I worked on the Swedish dress yesterday. I got the second ruffle in after an hour. I took a break and looked in the stash. I want to make a gift basket to see if how much I can get into them. The fabric I wanted to use would have been for daughter. Not enough for the basket but enough of it and other pieces to make a gift bag. I did a dig and found two pieces I can use to make the basket.

Break time was over and I needed to finish the princess seams on the dress (zig zag) and serge the back seam. I then put the bias strip on the neckline and sewed it down. Done for the day.

There isn't a lot left to do. Serge the side seams, sew on the arm hole bias strips, sew side seams, turn back seam in, hem, and add snaps. A longer afternoon's sewing.

I did take a picture of the bias cut dress.

The dress is okay and does hang a bit nicer than if it was on the straight of the grain. It wasn't a wasted sew as I did learn a lot about cutting out items and sewing them on the bias.

Knitting

I worked on the socks and got the first one finished. I hate the toe.

It is too pointy and narrow. I am going to rip it out and start again. I think I have the formula to make it more rounded. Tonight's project.

Thoughts

We had a nicer September than I thought we would. No hurricanes came our way though we did have one good rainfall from a tropical storm. It was nice not to have to rush around and put things away in a hurry. I have one afternoon of small jobs to do -- BBQ away, table flipped over, two pots of flowers to empty and garlic to plant.

I am progressing with the painting slowly but surely. I am happy with how much I got done in September as I had a lot of other things to do; appointments, garden, and cooking/freezing. October has less appointments but I need to spend some time cleaning the house. I have let it go with painting and all the pain I had with the flare up in my hip.

I have been very careful with my eating for 4 days now. I am hoping to get what I gained gone by the beginning of February. I haven't had an IBS attack for quite a while as I am working on relaxing and monitoring what I eat. I will keep working on being healthy. This is very important to me.

Today

I am out to New Minas with daughter-in-law this morning. My big purchase is to buy another gallon of paint. If we shop it will be for a few items I need. If not, I will have to get them tomorrow morning. This afternoon, I will try to finish the doll's dress to the snaps. Tonight I will unknit the sock's toe and start again with my formula.

Until the next time...........................................................
