Yesterday was cold, windy, sunny, and we had flurries most of the day. The high got to -6C. This morning it is cloudy and -8C. The coldest it got last night was -11C. Today is suppose to be cloudy with a mix of snow and rain and a high of 3C.
Lifestyle
I had a busy morning cleaning the bathroom and vacuuming floors. While cleaning the bath tub, my back decided to really hurt. I am not sure what caused it to do that. I did finish cleaning and sat with heat on it.
I knew I had to push on and decided to keep decorating upstairs. I had seen an idea of putting twinkle lights into the bottom of a dish and adding items to it. I did that for the spare bedroom.
Some of the ornaments shine as they are translucent. I still have to find the blue truck ornament to put on the dresser and it will be done.I played with what I call my flock of cardinals. I have had these for almost 20 years and they use to go into the tree. Now I put them into a vase with flowers and picks.
After lunch, I went to the quilt shop in Avonport. I thought I would go while the sun shone and there were no flurries. Little did I know there were flurries up there coming our way. The wind was blowing so nothing was settling on the road. I was one of three shoppers in the store and was the only one for quite a while. It was a great opportunity to wander around the store and look. When I got into the car to come home, my back started to spasm and it went down my bad leg to my toes. I got it worked out and wondered what caused it. Probably my periformis muscle acting up as it hasn't happened again. I did stretch all afternoon and in bed. I got a pop which may have been the SI joint seating itself. The cause was hanging over the tub to clean it.
Sewing
I didn't sew but I got the fabric for the bag. It took a while to choose the solid purple but I knew which print I wanted when I walked into the store.
As this bag will be used for travelling, the print will be the lining and pockets. The other will be the outer fabric. The plan for the bag is developing in mind.I also bought this fat quarter to make daughter piping. I fell in love with it when I saw it.
The fabrics are all laundered which means I can sew.Knitting
I knit another 16 rows on the vest last night. It is slowly getting longer.
Sixteen rows is two cable patterns which is what I would like to knit most nights.Thoughts
The wind has been the worst part of this cold snap. It goes right through you when you are out in it. It has blown all the snow away which is the only good thing. It is suppose to warm up with a high of 14C on Wednesday and Thursday.
I have been slowly getting the Christmas decorations out. I am ready to bring the tub upstairs and finish up. I am ready to have it done is I can enjoy it for a few weeks. Next year I will add a bit of decorations to my bedroom. Probably similar to what I add to the spare bedroom but in red and white. I am going small so it will be easy to pack up and put away.
I ate according to plan yesterday but didn't get weighed today. That I will do tomorrow. The dietician wants me to stop weighing every day. On the up side, I had a lot more energy even if I was in pain. I wanted to keep moving and doing things. I had to make myself sit down and apply heat to my sore areas.
One of 5 parcels arrived at daughter's yesterday. One is on its way out of Ontario and three are in Quebec. I know that all the private companies are busy with extra parcels this year and do know that all of these will be arrive before Christmas.
Today
My goal is to make cookies for daughter-in-law, decorate upstairs, fold laundry, and do one more load of laundry. I don't know if I will do any crafting but hope to knit tonight. My plans could change in a minute.
Until next time...............................................................
Have you heard of the pelican tote bag, by Bagstock designs? It is a free pattern with instructions, and also has add-on upgrades for other options (such as a recessed zipper). I have not made it yet, but have it downloaded and printed, might try some after new year's. There was recently a review on patternreview of one using piping, which I thought was quite attractive.
