Happy Easter
Yesterday was cloudy with a few showers and a high of 15C. This morning it is cloudy, damp, windy and 13C. Today is supposed to be cloudy and windy with the temperature going up to 15C and then dropping this afternoon to about 9C.
Lifestyle
I spent the morning making buns for dinner tonight. This batch turned out as good as the ones I had made the day before. I let both batches rise for 1 hour vs the 45 minutes I had been doing.
I did work on the family tree and had fun doing it. I worked on my mother's side of the family tree, mainly her mother's side. I knew that we had French ancestors that came in 1752 to Halifax and then to help build Lunenburg. I also learned that ancestors from Scotland come over at the same time and also went to Lunenburg. They too moved to the same area around River John and Tatamougche. What they did that the other ancestors didn't do was have some members move west to Manitoba. I love looking at how my ancestors moved around not only in the province they lived in but across Canada and to the US. One will never know why.Later in the afternoon, I went over to family's to give grandson his Easter candy. I handed him the bag and said I had brought him his Easter carrots. He looked at me funny and then laughed when he saw what I had given him.
He had thought I was giving him a bag of fresh carrots to eat. He was still grinning when I left to come home. His grandmother had got him good.I fixed the curtain rod in the living room last night. The wall where the bracket goes in is a mess and I will have to replace the curtains with blinds. It means ordering them and then getting someone to install them. I will have to order 6 of them due to the open plan concept. It is in the plans which means I need to act sooner rather than later.
Sewing
Sewing was a bit of fun putting batting together so I could have a piece big enough for the doll's quilt. I was able to quilt the doll's quilt and it is ready for binding.
The binding is in the floral print. I have enough fabric left over to make the pillow and pillow case. The scraps go in the pile for the quilting group. When done, I will have used 2 meters of fabric to make a bag and a doll's quilt.Knitting
I knit last night and got the first sock ready to start decreasing for the toes. I picked up the 2nd sock and got 10 rounds knit on it.
The foot of the sock ends with a wide black stripe and then two rows of the green before switching to black for the toe. If all goes well, they will be finished this week.
Thoughts
I decided yesterday to go back to eating like I did last spring. Portion control, no snacks, no chocolate, and very little sugar. I felt decidedly better yesterday. The sluggish feeling I was experiencing disappeared and my energy level raised even though I was tired from not sleeping well the night before.
My Fitbit put my sleep into two parts last night. I am not sure why it did that. I did have a good sleep with a lot more deep sleep than I've had in a long time. I am hoping that a combination of eating better and moving more will help me sleep better.
I looked at the family room briefly yesterday and am not happy with how it looks. I have to make some decisions on what I am going to do and how I am going to do it. If I am going to take part in the community yard sale, I need to start working on it now.
Today
I am going to do some housework this morning and sew the binding on the doll's quilt. This afternoon I am out to friend's to have Easter dinner. I am hoping that I can knit on the socks tonight and get the second foot done.
Until the next time...............................................................................
Happy Easter! I love the new doll quilt. My sister and her husband work on our genealogy, but seems my father's ancestors (maybe just a generation or two before him?) migrated to Nova Scotia from Scotland. McNeil is the family name. I think there are still many distant relatives in that area. Marianne
