A Bag Completed, A Doll's Quilt Started

Yesterday's weather was a bit of everything, sun, rain, clouds, and a cold wind. The high got to 11C. This morning it is cloudy and 3C. Today is supposed to be mix of sun and clouds with a high of 9C.

Lifestyle

I spent quite a bit of time prepping food to cook yesterday morning. I got chicken breasts into the Instant Pot to cook so I could have shredded chicken in the fridge and freezer. I also go out the slow cooker and made a stew with no potatoes. I had it over rice and it was delicious.

I was out mid morning to pick up my new glasses. It is nice to have glasses that sit straight on my face and lens that make reading easier. I am pleased with them and know I will enjoy doing things without having eye fatigue.

I did stand out on the deck yesterday afternoon and lasted a couple of minutes. The wind was cold. I came in and decided that I would get things ready to take down to the curb for garbage pick up. That included taking out the recycling and some old food in the freezer. The compost bin is out and the recycling bags are ready for me to take out shortly. The wind was blowing hard enough that my bags would have been in the ditch.

Sewing

I finished up the compact carrying bag yesterday. It was a lot more work than I had thought. Part was it being a new pattern and part was the finishing at the end.

I am not sure if I will make another one. One thing I like is how it folds up to be put into a purse.

I started the doll's quilt as it was ready to go. I got the squares sewn together and it is pressed and lightly starched. The only picture I have is of the layout as the picture of it sewn together was horrible.

I have the first border cut ready to sew on. It is the green fabric. So far, this has been made out of left over scraps from other projects. I know I will have to cut into fabric for the backing and binding.

Knitting

I got the gusset done on the first sock. It didn't take as long as I had expected.

The second sock had to be fixed as I had used the wrong end of the ball of yarn when I picked up the gusset stitches. It is now ready to knit.

Thoughts

I had hoped to be outside a bit yesterday puttering in the yard. The wind drove me inside. Also the yard was wet from the rain we had. Here is hoping I can do some puttering on Friday.

I enjoyed one news video yesterday. Ontario, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick are going to move goods inter-provincially without having barriers. This is a big move but it isn't the first move of goods moving more freely in Canada. Nova Scotia and PEI did this a few days ago. Here is hoping that more provinces will join in so we can have goods moving across Canada with no barriers in place.

I am still wondering about the economical situation in the world. I still hear the word recession being said. I wonder about the price of goods going up and how people are going to afford to do things. The "what ifs" keep popping up in my mind. I am trying to slow down my thoughts and relax but it is hard to do. I will be watching the series you mentioned Carole. I also enjoy watching videos that show people who are doing things in a calm and slower way. They help me relax as I think about their lifestyle.

Today

I am out part of today with daughter-in-law to shop in the city. Once home I will decide if I have time to sew on the doll's quilt. Tonight I hope to knit the gusset on the second sock.

Until the next time....................................................................
