Last year I decided to go down a new trail of making items that I wanted to make vs sewing down the stash. What happened was a hybrid. I did sew what I wanted and I did sew down the stash. I also allowed myself to buy fabric. Almost all the fabric I bought was sewn up. A real accomplishment for me.
I also purged fabric from the stash which was another accomplishment for me. I decided to let go of fabric so others can enjoy it. If it sits on the shelving unit and I avoid it, it isn't being enjoyed. What fabrics I did sew, I enjoyed using it as the projects were ones I wanted to make.
This year I will be going down the same path as last year. I will be making items I want to make using both the stash and new fabrics. I will keep track of the fabrics used and bought. If I buy fabric, I need to use it the month it was purchased.
Fabric Sewn and Bought
January - sewed 2.75 meters, bought 1.5 meter
February
I had a busy month in January. Most of it was spent outside getting and then keeping my driveway clean. Some days I was too tired to sew. Other days I did research on zipper tabs and made bags trying out techniques I found on YouTube. The doll's coat was an intense project as I was hacking a pattern to do another pocket that I had gotten from Sewing With Cinnamon. I will say I did a lot of hand sewing and basting during the month which I don't mind doing.
I did not clean my sewing room at all. I need to work on it while the upstairs is being painted. I can haul my cleaning stuff down there and clean in the mornings and sew in The afternoons.
I inventoried all my yarn and I have quite the stash. It's more like a hoard. The totals are scary with me doing some thinking. I need to start planning to knit it down before I buy yarn though I do need one ball for one project. I am working on a plan for the year. It is a coming together nicely.

January
My goal for January is to clean part of the sewing room. I want to have my space that is clean, tidy, and organized by the end of February. I will be sewing each day when I finish an area. I cut out 2.7 meters of fabric last year to make an Edwardian wardrobe for the dolls. It was to give me a jumpstart in January while I focus on cleaning.
