Getting Ready For November

Yesterday was cloudy with some sunshine. We even saw a few drops of rain. The high got to 13C and the low this morning is 10C. We are expecting rain and/or showers today.

Lifestyle

Yesterday morning was off to get our hair cut. Once home, I wrapped gifts to go to daughter today. With free shipping, one has to be on the ball each week. One more week has been added and I will have a parcel to go.

Sewing

I spent some time cleaning up the sewing room yesterday. I got the cutting table cleaned off and around the sewing machine tidied up. The floor was swept. Much better but not perfect.
I looked at the fabric shelves and I need to get into the craft/quilting fabrics and tidy them up. If it doesn't stress me to death, it will be the end of December's job. That way I can set up projects for January.
Once the room was cleaned, I laid out the fabric to make daughter 2 pillows and a table runner. I cut out one pillow and sewed it up. Very simple but effective.
The second pillow is ready to be marked and cut out. Then it will be the table runner and something from the left over fabric. She sent me 2 meters of fabric and I want to get as much as possible out of it.
I set up November's projects and now need to put the items into their baskets. I don't think I will be sewing as many meters this month as in October. But one never knows.

Knitting

I dug out the needles and yarn to make a scarf to go with the hat I knit. I raveled the yarn from the hat I knit for the fall fair and reknit it. The scarf is another easy knit and is the Escarpment pattern.
I'm sure I will have it done by the end of the weekend. I'm half done the flat part and will be joining it into the round by Friday night.

Today

I'm off to WW this morning, get flannel for grandson's pants and a couple of other items, home to clean and set up for Halloween. I'm sure we will have the little ones around by 5 p.m. Busy but fun.
Until the next time............................

A Trip Down Memory Lane

Yesterday was another lovely sunny day. The high got to 13C. This morning it is clear and 1C. Another sunny day before it starts to rain.

Lifestyle

I headed out early for bloodwork. It's done for another 3 months. After breakfast, the Spousal Unit and I headed out to shop for the last of the Christmas presents that go west and for him to buy books. We were home by 1 p.m.

Sewing

I finished daughter's bag by 3 p.m. and it's ready to go after I take pictures of it. It was a lot of work with fringe and beads on it. I'm not sure I'll make another one like it due to the time and effort that went into it.
Daughter and I were talking about the Miss Rodeo Canada pageant that is running this week. Some of the clothes we made are coming out of the closet for the first time in 7-9 years.
This jacket I made 9 years ago and is worn by one of the contestants. I was working on this when I took a course from Ron Collins and he helped me with the sleeves.
The same contestant will be wearing this vest today after not been seen for 8 years.
The embroidery took hours to stitch out but the results were stunning. The color choices were perfect and I loved it.
And this dress will be worn by another contestant after not been seen for 8 years.
There was a lot of hand sewing on this dress but it was stunning on the two girls who wore it.
It gives me pleasure to see some of the outfits I made are in excellent condition and having a second debut. But, I'm happy I'm not sewing these outfits anymore. If I have a desire to do this type of work, I'll happily do it on doll's clothes.

Knitting

I finished the messy bun hat I was working on. It was a fun knit that I enjoyed knitting. Next up is a scarf to go with it. It will be another relaxing knit.

Today

We get our hair cut first thing, then a bit of housework, gift wrapping and sewing room tidy up. A busy day with little to no sewing.
Until the next time..........................

Near Finishing The Bag

Yesterday we started with rain that had fallen during the night and then it cleared to be sunny. The high got to 10C. This morning it is -1C and is to be an other sunny day with a high of 12C.

Lifestyle

I made buns yesterday morning.
This time, I ground the rosemary with a mortar and pestle. It was great and I will be doing the bag of rosemary. The buns were nice with our dinner.

Health

I'm feeling better and I'm hoping my IBS has settled down. I'm eating smaller portions and have a couple of rice crackers when I'm hungry. The weight is coming off which is nice. I'm hoping I'm back on track.

Sewing

With only 1 hour put in the sewing room in the past 4 days, I was ready to sew. It was a productive afternoon. The piping was already made, the handles and closure cut and sewn. The lining got done and attached to the bag. When I left the room, the only things left to do to finish the bag are:

  • sew the lining shut
  • put the beads on the fringe
  • add the button
It paid off having a break from the sewing room.
I did a button audition and nothing worked. I think I'm going to do a button from the some fabric.

The top one almost won.

Knitting

I'm knitting away on the hat using up the wool from the one I made for the fall fair. I'm really not pushing myself at it though I do knit most evenings. I have almost 3 balls left so will make a matching scarf out of it. I'm knitting slowly.

Today

I'm off to the hospital to give blood (thyroid) this morning. After I eat breakfast, we are going for a drive to the used book store. Then home to finish the bag. I need to get another box out this week.
Until the next time..............................

Trying to Relax More

We've had a couple of lovely days, sunshine and 10 to 14C. Perfect fall weather. This morning, it was -2C and tonight we will have rain.

Lifestyle

I've been relaxing a bit more to reduce the stress. I've finished a book and have another one coming in from the library. It has been great to do a bit of reading.
I went to the city with daughter-in-law and grandson yesterday. What a crazy day and we walked almost 5 km looking for items. We did Costco and got meat as it was on sale. I don't think I will have to buy anything but chicken until January.

Health

My game plan has paid off. Not only has my IBS gotten better, I've lost some weight. I've tried to be really conscious of what goes in my mouth and, hopefully, it helps.

Sewing

I have the bag ready to put on the handles and do the lining. I've slowed down what I am doing as I was stressing out a lot. I will try to get it done on Monday.

Knitting

I ripped out the scarf I was working on and started another messy bun hat. I wasn't happy with the scarf so let it go. The hat has 14 rows knit on it and I relaxed as I knit. This is not a have to do it project just one for fun and to use up some yarn.

Barbara, the cowl I made back in September is called Escarpment. I got the pattern free but it is now for sale. You can find it on Ravelry.

Today

There is some housework, laundry, a bit of outside work, sewing and grandson today. Not a lot of each and if I only sew for 1 hour I will be happy with that.
Until the next time..............................

A Health Thinking Day

Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day. The high got to 15C and the temperature is 11C this morning. Today is to be a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 14C. Beautiful fall weather.

Lifestyle

It turned out it was all about my health yesterday. It was "ignore everything else" day. It was time to bring my health back into a primary focus rather than a secondary one. It became a deep thinking day for me.

Health

Yesterday morning I had the worst IBS attack in a very long time. It was a combination of many things and I had to work through the causes quickly so I won't have this again.

  • Stress/anxiety/panic - I've had all three trying to meet deadlines this month. It has resulted in jaw clenching, worrying, and over focusing on getting the jobs done.
  • Over eating - too much too often. Stress does this to me and it isn't good for IBS.
  • Sugar - It's a good medium for growing things. I have had too much sugar lately.
  • Carbonated drinks - I've had my fair share. Pop and carbonated water.
  • Caffeine - coffee, tea, and dark colored pops. All on the list of what not to drink.
  • Grains - particularly wheat has been on the menu for every meal.
I made myself go to Weight Watchers yesterday which was probably was the final straw for the attack. I self talked the whole way there and was shaking when I opened the door to enter. There were no problems. They started me over again at Week 1, were very friendly, and didn't pressure me to stay. I left there feeling 100% better than when I arrived. I will be back again next week.
Next I went shopping and started to get foods I need to heal. Items like rice crackers, plain water, and other foods that I know I can eat. As I shopped, I decided that I would be following this regime.
  • 1 cup of coffee a day. Tea will be peppermint to help calm my stomach.
  • Sugar is all but eliminated. I can have two of my low point cookies a night.
  • Carbonated drinks are off the list. Plain water with lemon or lime Mio can be had. Mio may be off the list also due to the artificial sweetener in it.
  • Small meals with a couple of rice crackers in the afternoon if I'm hungry.
  • Less wheat/grain. I looked at gluten free pasta yesterday and put it back on the shelf. It has corn flour in it. I will eat rice when I make pasta for the Spousal Unit. Bread is cut back to 1 slice a day.
  • Monitor for more triggers (food and situations) and eliminate from lifestyle.
  • Remove as much stress as possible from my life.
Following what I set out to do was hard as my body was craving sugar in the afternoon. I was hungry as I ate less at meal time. But, I forced myself to think about my health and getting better. While shopping, I gave myself permission to have a day off and do nothing at home. I bought a book to read and read I did.
No sewing. No knitting. Just reading.

Today

I have to do a bit of housework and it will be back to the sewing room to work on the bag for daughter. There will be no knitting tonight as I'm enjoying my book. I have to watch what I eat so I can continue healing my gut and loose weight.
Until the next time................................

A New Bag Begun

Yesterday was grey and cloudy. It started to rain and as the day progressed, it rained harder. And the wind blew harder. The temperature got to 16C and we got about 3/4" of rain. It cleared off over night and the temperature is 9C.

Lifestyle

With all the wind we had, we had a big power bump around 5:00 p.m. Only the internet had to boot itself though.
Yesterday morning, I did some house work. It was mostly sweeping floors and putting things away. It is nice to have the house tidy each day.

Health

I'm heading back to eating properly again and not only does it include portion control, it includes foods that are not IBS irritants. I've meandered towards foods that my body does not like and am paying for it. My stress level is up to meet deadlines and that is not helping. I'm feeling like a wreck. It's time to clean up my act.

Sewing

I spent quite a bit of time in the sewing room working through the design for daughter's boot bag. The two pieces of fabric were cut, piping added to one piece and then the fringe added. Each strip of fringe was cut individually at 1/4" wide. I got less than half of it sewn on when I sat and thought of an easier, less stressful way. I used 1/4" wide double sided tape and it was a breeze after that. I sewed it together, laid on some fixings and the design was what I had wanted.
I wanted to add some beads but it isn't working.
Everything has to be sewn on with rust thread. The square beads may show up on the handles as I do like them. Daughter sent me the faux suede and the fixings and all I saw was her bag.
When I got to this point, I stopped for the day. It took me 4 hours to get the front done.

Knitting

The hat is done and ready to go out this coming week. I'm happy with it.
I started a scarf, which was to be easy. Two rows for 29". Getting it right took 6 tried but once I got it, it became an easy knit. The pattern is by Red Heart.

Today

I'd like to go shopping and get a few Christmas presents to ship west. I also need to get groceries. I'd like it to be a quick trip as I want to take the Spousal Unit in to town to get more river rock so he can touch up around the shed.
Until the next time............................

Another Gift Made

Yesterday's fog burnt off to give us another sunny day. The high got to 15-16C. This morning it is cloudy and we are to have rain sometime around noon. The temperature is to be about the same as yesterday.

Lifestyle

Yesterday's fog got thicker before it burnt off. A boy across the street went out to get in their car and announced to his mom and the world it was "snowing out". We had a good chuckle over that.
As yesterday was free shipping Tuesday, I pushed myself to get a box filled to go to Daughter. I could feel myself clenching my jaw as the day progressed. Even after the box was done, I was still clenching my jaw even when I went to bed. Not good.

Sewing

I hit the sewing room early and sewed until the bag was finished.
Here is the inside fabric and I will show the bag at a later date. It is really cute.
I have two more projects to complete by the end of the month. Another bag that requires cutting fringe and cushions and a table runner. I begin today on the bag. The design is done in my head and I'm ready.

Knitting

I knit on the messy bun hat and am 4 rows to casting it off. I was really pushing myself and my jaw was clenched the whole time. When done, I'm taking time off from knitting hats and doing an easy scarf. I'm going into slow knitting mode for a bit.

Today

A bit of housework will be done and then I'll start the next bag. I need to cut out the front pieces, add piping to one part and then start cutting fringe for the other part. Once the front is done, the rest of the bag will be a breeze.
Until the next time.............................

Another Bag In The Works

Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day with a high of 18C. This morning, the temperature was 1C at 6 am and by 7 am, we were engulfed in fog. Today is to be cooler than yesterday but it is to be sunny.

Lifestyle

Yesterday morning we froze the leeks that were in the garden. Three bags reside in the freezer. There are still 9 leeks left in the garden for soup. We were done in just over an hour, including clean up.
The Spousal Unit finished raking up the branches from trimming the hedge. It is ready for me to weed and trim up underneath.
Elliott enjoyed the sun yesterday. He moved around the house taking in the rays

Health

I've done a lot of thinking about returning to WW and have decided to go to the head office in Sackville once a week to weigh in. I haven't had a stress attack since making that decision and will ask to restart the program. I will also ask if I can vary my weigh in day to fit my schedule as they are open 5 days a week. I'd like to take in the meetings also. I will probably come back here once I feel more settled and less vulnerable.

Sewing

I am pushing myself to get Christmas presents done so I spent quite a few hours sewing. A bag is in progress. I made the piping before lunch. The fabric is a fat quarter that came in the box Daughter sent me.
I can say I love it and put it on the handles of the bag. It pops again the black fabric. This bag is taking on its own personality.

The main fabrics are cut out, piping attached, handles and closure on. I need to cut out the lining and sew it together today. It needs to go out in the mail tomorrow.

Knitting

The last messy bun hat to go in next week's box is coming along nicely. It will be done by Friday.

Today

The goal is to finish the bag and get it and another gift wrapped to ship out tomorrow. I have to print the label today for free shipping.
Until the next time...............................

Test Dress Completed

Yesterday was a gorgeous sunny day. The high got to 13C and the temperature this morning is 4C. No frost and it looks like another sunny day.

Lifestyle

I did 3 loads of laundry yesterday. One was the fairy frost fabric. There is a lot of it to be folded and stored. A lot of piping and doll's dresses.
The Spousal Unit trimmed the hedge and started raking up the branches. It looks nice and even. I would love to finish weeding it and should just go out and do it for an hour each sunny afternoon.

Sewing

I spent a lot of time in the sewing room yesterday. I wanted to finish the doll's dress I was testing so put the pressure on myself to get it done.
The pattern is cute but the stress began with no lace. I find it hard to get lace here; supplies are limited everywhere I look. I chose an organza trim from the stash and tried her idea. Didn't work so tried again and it worked. I was trying to gather the trim for over the shoulders and it was already gathered. When I sewed them together and used it as is, it worked fine.
The back sports a big bow and is cute.
The top of the skirt has a bluish hue. I used blue tulle under the skirt as I didn't have white. I wouldn't use it again unless it was white. I would also make it longer than I did. It really doesn't hold the skirt out any further but I wanted to try her technique. Works like a charm.

Knitting

I got the dark grey messy bun hat started, the 10 rows of ribbing and the first 4 rows of pattern completed. It has to be done by next Tuesday to go out in what is suppose to be the last free shipping Tuesday.
Picture was taken when the ribbing was done. The book underneath is one I use when knitting. I keep track of yarn, needle size, pattern change if necessary and rows knit. A useful reference for me. On this page, I will have knit 3 messy bun hats when this one is completed.

Today

Laundry needs to be folded. leeks frozen, and a new bag started. It will be a busy day.
Until the next time...........................

A Day Out

Yesterday was a day of rain showers and sunshine. The high got to 11C and this morning it was 3C. Today is looking like it will be full of sunshine and we could get a high of 15C.

Lifestyle

Yesterday morning, I did a bit of house work and then went to the sewing room. In the afternoon we had grandson and were out for an extended drive.
We got apples and then drove through Kentville to look at the pumpkin people on display throughout the community. Grandson told us about the themes used. People stop and take pictures at these sights which is only found in this community.
Once home, grandson went out to play with his friends. They were super busy and only stopped for dinner. We brought the kids in around 7 pm and grandson left at 8 pm. We had a super day with him.

Health

I've been thinking about going back to Weight Watchers. Every time I think about it (Tues./Wed.), I have an IBS attack. Is it mainly stress about the group I was in. Or maybe it is just me over reacting to something, or having gained weight or ?. I'm going on Wednesday noon to try it again. I'm also going to start my bullet journal again. Anything to get back to loosing weight. I also need to stop being hard on myself which causes stress. I found this and will be putting it into my bullet journal as I've been thinking about what I should stop doing to myself. Stop being around toxic people will be eliminated as I don't have that issue.
When I keep the stress down, stop being hard on myself, and not eat onions, I'm doing well. I need to take care of myself.

Sewing

I spent my sewing time in the morning. I have the bodice done and ready to sew on the trim. I'm figuring out what to do as I don't have the lace she calls for. I do have an idea brewing for today.
Day 30 of not buying fabric ended up with.....................
On the drive, we stopped at the fabric store so I could get fabric for 1 bag and a piece for another bag. Daughter asked for the small print in the picture.
I loved the other print which matches perfectly. I was very good and didn't buy any fabric I would use immediately.

Knitting

I finished the messy bun hat at 9 pm last night.
I'm ready to start a new one. It is a darker grey with a silver thread in it.

Today

There is laundry and sewing to be done. I also have to do some clean up so all is tidy for the coming week.

Knitted Test Pattern Completed

Yesterday was a fall day. The high got to 12-13C. There were a lot of dark clouds with only a misting of rain in the morning. The sun shone on occasion. This morning it is 9C and will be about that temperature for the day.

Lifestyle

We headed out to get groceries locally and to find apples. We priced them out at the grocery stores and one farm. We will go further afield today. The cheapest apples were smaller than we like. We share an apple so like the bigger ones.
I did get pictures of a couple of gigantic field pumpkins. Their weight is on them so I'm assuming that these will be used in the regatta today.

We are not going to it this year as the weather forecast is cool and a north wind. We are not completely over our colds and I don't want us to get sick.

Sewing

I spent almost 2 hours in the sewing room yesterday and got the bodice lining sewn and the two pieces pinned together. The bodice takes longer than expected due to it has 7 pieces and the side pieces are sewn on in two steps; up to the under arm and then part way up the armsycle. Every piece needs a lot of stay stitching and marks. Extra pins are needed to make sure everything matches perfectly.
The box Daughter sent me arrived. It has a lot of "Fairy Frost" cottons in it. They will go away to be made into doll's dresses and piping. I haven't seen it in Canada for a while. A couple of bolts came mixed in with some quilting cottons 2.5 years ago when I was working at the store.
The fabric for pillows and a table runner was also in the box and I will be making those between now and the end of the month. The biggest job is matching stripes.

Knitting

The major goal yesterday was to finish the test pattern. I sewed it together and got the buttons on it.
Going down a needle size gave me a perfect fit. I'm more than thrilled with it.
The top is semi halter which I'm not a fan of on these dolls. I hate their cloth bodies showing. That is just me. The top fits to perfection.
It is a pattern where I had to pay attention to each row.
I worked on the messy bun hat and have 1.5" left to knit before I do the top 5 rows. This is an easy knit.
Once it is finished, I have to knit a dark grey one.
Daughter has bought me a bit of yarn that was on a deep sale. I am going to knit hats and scarves out of them. I am going through my worsted yarn faster than I thought. I'm choosing easy as they knit up fast and I can enjoy my evenings.

Today

We have grandson and will be heading out to get apples. I also have to stop and get some fabric to make one bag and a piece for another bag that I have everything else. I may not get to sew, but I will knit tonight.
Until the next time...................................

And It Rained

Yesterday was a wet and windy one. 1.5" of rain fell in 6 hours. The storm ended with few flashes of lightening. When it was over with, the sky cleared up and the sun came out. The high yesterday was 17C. This morning the temperature was 10C and it is suppose to get to 18C. We could have a few showers.

Lifestyle

Yesterday morning I finished the paper work I needed to do. I'm glad to have that job done.
While doing the paper work and through lunch, the power was surging. The last two surges made me think that we were going to loose power. We didn't but about 4000 customers in the Windsor area were without power for 1-2 hours. We were a small band of lucky ones between Highway 1 and Highway 101.

Sewing

I did some sewing for less than an hour after the power was restored to most of Windsor. I don't run my sewing machines when there are local power outages due to surging when the power comes back on. I got the bodice done on the test dress and am ready to sew the bodice lining.
I did play with fabrics yesterday and am using this combination to make a boot bag for Daughter.
The chocolate brown will be replaced with another darker brown fabric. I want one that is either batik or has a design that gives texture. Ideas are floating in my head on how this one will look.

Knitting

I worked on the messy bun hat yesterday only to find out I should be knitting the dark grey for the hat. I'll finish this one first.
I'm about half done at the moment.

Today

We are out to grocery shop and then I will sew on the doll's dress. I also have to sew together the last outfit I tested (knitting) and photograph it.
Until the next time.........................

A More Relaxed Day

Yesterday came in clear and sunny. It got to 16C. This morning is cloudy and 11C. We have a storm coming in today -- rain and winds. It is suppose to be fast moving.

Lifestyle

Yesterday was a less rushed day. I started it out baking buns. They had chives, rosemary, dill, and parsley added to them. They are ready to go in the oven here.
I give the large pan of 6 to family and we eat 4. I'm hoping to make them once a week.
While the buns were doing their thing, I did paper work and was done by noon. It was nice not having to rush around doing a lot of things that had to be done.
This year, the small tree in our front yard turned red. The year we arrived, it was bare, last year the leaves turned brown and fell off rapidly. This year, the leaves have slowly turned red and it looks gorgeous.

Sewing

I got into the sewing room for a couple of hours. I used up .5 meter of fabric I bought back in June and started to test a doll's dress.  I got one half of the bodice front done.
I have some cute organza trim to put on this dress.
I laid out some fabric for a boot bag and I do love it.
With this big button.
I have to dig a bit more and see what else I have as I need to make one for Daughter. I will spend an hour putting together ideas today.

Knitting

The test pattern is done and ready for blocking. After that is done, I will sew up the seams and add buttons.
I started another messy bun hat to ship to Daughter. She has ordered this one to gift to a friend. The ribbing is done.
The yarn has a variegated shiny thread in it.
We call this the grey unicorn thread and one person said it's full of confetti. This is an easy knit.

Today

With the storm coming in, it is a home day. I will do more paper work this morning and spend time in the sewing room this afternoon. Knitting this evening.
Until the next time...............................

A Rushed Day

Yesterday was a combination of sun and cloud and the high got to 15C. This morning at 6 am, it was 3C and you could see the frost on the cars. Today is to be sunny and 16C and then we are to have a fast moving storm cross the province tomorrow. Rain and winds.

Lifestyle

It was a day of no pictures. I laid my phone down and hustled all day. I did 4 loads of laundry and cleaned our bedroom. I'm happy to have it done as I moved all the furniture and wash the floor. I also cleaned the ceiling fan as we run it up until the end of September to help keep the room cool. It had a lovely layer of dust on it.
I also wrapped some Christmas presents to ship out and the box will go next week. I can add a couple of extra gifts to the box rather than stuffing it full with paper.
Elliott had quite the day yesterday. He had issues settling down to sleep and didn't get his daily nap until 2 p.m. By then he was a wreck. He slept through 2 boys who were at our house after school. Hopefully he will have a better day today.

Sewing

I did the rolled hem on 2 scarves in less than an hour. They are in the box ready to go next week. I also let the hems down on grandson's pants. I had a bit of panic when I saw the stitches on the right side but it was bees wax. When I pressed the crease out, the  wax melted and all was good. I delivered them before dinner (laundered too boot).
I am really busy in the sewing room trying to get presents ready to go to Daughter. I have 2 gifts left to make plus I have to test a pattern for a designer.
The test pattern is for Gotz dolls. The last one I made fit beautifully. This one is by the same designer and I'm thinking of using something cute for it.

Knitting

I knit quite a bit last night and am on the front section of the sleeveless top. A couple more days and it will be done. Next up is another messy bun hat that will be put in the last parcel out west.

Today

I am going to make buns, do some paperwork and start the doll's dress. I'm not going to rush like I had to yesterday. Hopefully, I'll have pictures tomorrow.
Until the next time................................

Happy Thanksgiving

We are having a beautiful fall. Yesterday got to 11C and was a mix of sunshine and cloud. There was a bit of mist about 3 p.m. Today was suppose to be really warm but it has been revised to get to 14C rather than 20.

Lifestyle

Yesterday I made buns and they turned out quite well. One batch down, one to go.
Daughter-in-law picked me up after lunch and we went to the city to shop. The color of the leaves this fall are vibrant and have gotten brighter over the week. These pictures do not do justice as to how bright the colors are.
The reds and oranges are brilliant in color. I have really been admiring them.
The fire department came up our way with sirens blaring, horns going, and lights flashing. The fire chief led the way in the pick up truck followed by Search and Rescue and the two tanker trucks. They went into the area past us called the Crossing, did a loop and back out. As they drove past, we realized they were out and about wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. They probably did the area were Son and family live. They will do this again (may not be our area) after the Pumpkin Regatta and just before Christmas with Santa.

Health

The Spousal Unit is getting over his cold. He was feeling much better yesterday and had a good sense of humor. He was also very alert.
I, on the other hand, was tired. I'm fighting the cold and, with the Spousal Unit feeling better, relaxed enough that I was exhausted last night. I woke up this morning to my gut making noises which is the first time I've heard it for months. I'm hoping that all is back to normal for me. It was nice to hear those noises as my stomach has been quiet for a long time.

Sewing

No sewing was done yesterday as I was out shopping in the city.

Knitting

I cast on the sleeveless top of the test pattern and knit 8 rows of ribbing. That was all my poor tired brain could handle.

Today

I have to make another batch of buns and cook potatoes for Thanksgiving dinner. It is a family and friends dinner across the street. While the buns are doing their thing, I would love to do a bit of housework; the living room needs to be finished.
Until the next time.............................

Recovery Day

Yesterday started out wet and then was cloudy. The high got to 13C and it was 11C at 6 a.m. this morning. Today will be cloudy with some drizzle. It is suppose to get to 14C today.

Lifestyle

It was nap day yesterday. I had two short naps to get through the day and the Spousal Unit slept for 3 hours. He is feeling much better though he still has the cold. One could say it was recovery day.
I did go out and get some groceries before lunch and daughter-in-law came over to get tomato sauce and check in on us. It was nice of her to do that.

Sewing

In the late afternoon, I went down and cut the satin to make daughter 3 scarves. The satin she sent is light and shifts around like crazy. I forgot to check the first scarf and there is one crazy part. It will be hidden when worn. The second scarf was checked and is ready for a rolled hem.
I did a test using the thread she sent and it is a perfect match to the green in the scarf.
I had to use one white spool of thread which gives a tiny bit of definition between the rolled edge and the fabric. A scarf takes less than an hour to hem and I'm hoping to have all three ready to go out in this week's box.

Knitting

No knitting last night as I was too tired to think about it. I would have made a mistake so it was best to leave it be.

Today

I have to bake buns, get a couple of missing items for dinner tomorrow night, and hem one more scarf. I also need to take down grandson's pants as he has grown over an inch since school started. A busy day.
Until the next time............................

A Trip Down Memory Lane

We've had fall weather with clouds, sunshine, and, starting last night, rain. It is to be wet today with a high of 13-14C.

Lifestyle

I got part of the living area cleaned up yesterday. Pulled furniture from the walls, swept, washed and put back. The goal was to finish it today but.......
I'm tired. I had to take the Spousal Unit to the ER at 1 am as he was confused, crabby, and not himself. His cold has gone to his chest and I am sure he was running a fever fighting the cold. Getting up and moving broke the fever as he was sweating when he got his coat on. The doctor checked him out and it's a common chest cold. He was fine when we got there. At home, he climbed into bed and went right to sleep. He slept until 7:30 a.m.

Sewing

As I'm fighting the cold also, I haven't felt like sewing. Nor will it happen today. But, I got a box of items from Daughter. One bag was a trip down memory lane.
In a bag she sent were several of these pieces and some of the fabric.
It brought back memories of making rodeo queen clothing. I thought I had made a vest out of these but it was a top. Way back in 2012-13.
Every piece was hand sewn onto the top. The pattern was a hack using a dress pattern, adapting the neck, and designing the collar. I could make this top in my sleep.
The Spousal Unit and were discussing how much work I did on these tops and how happy I am not doing them anymore. One thing I did learn was how to hand stitch items onto the fabric quickly. Some of the dresses had about 40 hours of hand stitching and you learn to do it quickly and neatly.  I'm keeping these pieces until I can find something to make for Daughter and hand sew them onto it. I will probably be some for her sewing room. Like a wall hanging. I'm thinking on it. End of memory lane.

Knitting

I did knit the second sleeve for the test pattern. Next is the sleeveless top.

Today

I'm going to do a bit of tidying up, get a few items from the grocery store, rest, and nap. Housework is on hold for today.
Until the next time...........................

A Bendy (Bentley) Bag Made

Yesterday the weather was lovely with a high of 15C. This morning the temperature was 4C. It is suppose to be another sunny day here.

Lifestyle

Yesterday morning the Spousal Unit had to go and give blood. We got home and decided to go to New Minas and Kentville. It was a fast trip and we were home in time for a late lunch.
I had a nap in the afternoon as I was to be up late with grandson. He and I had a great evening together reviewing English grammar. I got home about 10:30 pm.

Sewing

I finished the Bendy bag. I call it the Bentley bag after Daughter's cat who's breed is on the fabric.
I'll put his Christmas gifts inside it.
Though I'm trying to stay out of the fabric stores, I may have to get the fabric to make Daughter's dog one for Christmas. It takes 2 fat quarters to make this bag. The dog fabric I use has his breed on it.
I also cut out the front of the pillow. The batting was spray basted onto it and the cross hatching has begun.

Knitting

I finished the body and one sleeve of the test pattern sweater. One sleeve and the sleeveless top left to go.

Today

We are out for grandparent's day at Grandson's school We arrive at 11 am and take him home about 2:30 p.m. It's a time when grandparents get to see what is happening at the school this year.
Until the next time............................

A Tomato Kind of Day

Yesterday was another nice day with a high of around 17C. We did have sun for most of the day. This morning it was 5C at 6 a.m. And the fog started to roll in shortly afterwards. Suppose to be another warm day with some sunshine.

Lifestyle

Yesterday I made tomato sauce. All the tomatoes came in and I had a lot to do.
Once they cooked down and were sieved, I had one container of juice.
And, it cooked down to 19 cups of sauce. All in the freezer and I'm done for this year. Was done by 4:30 p.m.

Health

My IBS has settled down quite a bit lately. I've been trying to have little stress in my life. It has been helping. I've also decided to stop going to Weight Watchers and do it online. I will go back later on. I need to focus on this at home rather than going out. I may go to the noon meeting starting next week as I have 2 months to decide.

Sewing

I used a fat quarter of fabric to make some piping. It is going to Daughter's to see if it is the right amount for a shirt.
She can use this on a kid's shirt though I think it would be fun on an adult's shirt.
I also dug out this kit.
I started a Bendy Bag or is it a Bentley Bag (named after Daughter's cat).
I'm ready to start the bendy part of the bag.

Knitting

I didn't knit last night. We were for supper at son and family's house. While there, a lot of fire trucks went down the road close to their house. There was a big fire about a 4 minute drive away. We went home when all was quiet (about 7 p.m.) and later got more information.

Today

Housework in the morning and sewing in the afternoon. I do have to go to the post office sometime before 5 p.m. I pick up grandson from school this evening and sit with him until son and daughter-in-law come home.
Until the next time............................
