January 29, 2026
I watch a YouTube called KnittyNatty. I don't watch every one of her videos but I do watch some. In one video she showed how she inventoried her stash. She shared the spreadsheet so people could use it to inventory their stash. I decided I would do that with the thought that I didn't have a lot of yarn.
I have let go of a lot of yarn and will be either selling it as a bag cheaply when I have a garage sale in the spring or will donate it to someone. I smugly thought I didn't have a lot of yarn left in the bins in the cubby I set aside for yarn. Here is the scoop -- I have a lot of yarn. Way more than I thought. I have inventoried all my yarn and I am embarrassed. Here are the stats
93 skeins of yarn. This is a collection of full skeins and skeins I have used.
22656 yards of yarn which is 12.86 miles.
7581 grams which is 16.7 pounds in total weight.
I have set up some goals for 2026 knowing I can't knit down all that yarn. but I need to work on it. My goals may or may not be achieved depending on many factors.
2026 Goals

6 Month Update
I have done well so far this year on my knitting.
I removed 25 balls from my stash
8 were put into the yard sale and sold
17 were knit into projects
I bought 9 balls of yarn (1350 grams) for an afghan I am working on.
I have stopped knitting socks for the summer as everyone has lots of socks. I will knit them in the winter and put them away for gifts.
I have some single 50 gram balls of yarn that I will knit items for the dolls when the afghan is done.
I found that I needed to have a break from making small items and tackle a large one that I have had on my list for years. I wanted to knit it before the yarn was discontinued.
July
work on my afghan.
