A Day At the Fair

Yesterday was the perfect day for going to the fair. It was sunny with clouds, 20C, and some light wind. It rained this morning some time and is 16C.

Lifestyle

Side note -- Hants County Fall Fair is the oldest fair in Canada. It has been running for 254 years.
We headed out to the fair and arrived about 10:30 a.m. We went in to see how the Spousal Unit did with his entries. He got 2nd for both tomato entries and 3rd for his beets. He looked around to see what he would put in next year.
Once that was done, we headed into the the building where the sewing, baking, etc. is housed. We looked at my entries. I didn't place in 3 entries (2 knit hats and the mug rug). I was thrilled otherwise.
Jennie placed first in dressed doll.
The knit dress Lily is wearing placed second.
The shopping bag, embroidered cosmetic brush holder, and pillow all placed first. The sewing section only had 6 items (5 categories) of the 11 categories. I will be working on that this year. I will only do one knit item as there are a lot of ladies who knit and there was a lot of entries in mittens, hats, and afghans. My favorite knit items was the lace trim someone knit. She did several yards of it and wound it on a spool.
We wandered around a bit, watched the big horses pull wagons (6 in hand) and our favorite event - the miniatures horse barrels. The miniature horses pull a sulky and do the barrel pattern. One person even has a donkey and it shows its stubbornness when doing the barrels.
We also watched the oxen pulls and daughter-in-law joined us there. We left when that category was almost done to watch barrel racing. Supper was with them and then a quick walk around the buildings and home. We were tired, over stimulated, and ready to be in the quietness of our home. Elliott met us with lots of rubbing.

Sewing

I did get down to the sewing room for 40 minutes and cut out a muslin to start a sloper for other dolls that are not American Girl.

I did all of the stay stitching at 1/4" so the seam lines are shown. The shoulders are sewn and it is ready for the first fitting.

Today

I am making tomato sauce, tidying up more in the kitchen, and, hopefully a bit more on the bodice fitting.
Until the next time............................
