Not The Storm We Expected

Yesterday's weather was one for the books. It went from very humid to lovely and cool. The high was 22C (humidex 32C). This morning it is cloudy and 15C. Today is supposed to be sunny with a high of 26C (humidex 31C).

Lifestyle

I folded laundry yesterday and then started to clean the bathroom. It is time to scrub it from ceiling to floor. I chose the bath tub area first and I was in full problem solving mode. I will not stand on the narrow ledge of the garden tub and wash walls so I tried the ladder in the tub. It did not work. So I grabbed a clean mop cloth and the mop and washed the walls that way. It worked like a charm. Once I had the walls cleaned around the tub to the shower and to the vanity, I started scrubbing the tub and the tiles. Then it was the floor space. In the end, I got almost half of the bathroom scrubbed clean. It wasn't really dirty. It was quite dusty.

I sat on the couch and drank fluids when I was done. The house was warmish and humid. The poor dehumidifiers were running full time. We did have some rain but not the heavy rains they anticipated. Once the storm moved away, the clouds came down almost to the ground and it was misty. The nice thing -- it started to cool off. By dinner time, I had all the windows open and enjoying the cool air coming into the house.

I looked at my plants a couple of times yesterday. I have a cucumber on one of the plants and several other blooms.

I have tomatoes everywhere and will be giving them away if they all survive the deer. Not exactly what I had planned for.

Sewing

I did cut out the remaining pieces for the last 9 patches I made. I have them all lined up on the cutting table.

My plan is to grab 4 or 5 of the blocks and do them and then repeat with the rest. I am not going to do all 9 at once as I am supposed to enjoy making this quilt.

I decided to work on the rabbit's dress. I had watched the video on how to make the ties and the front section. I made the ties and they were finicky as they are so narrow. Next up was to make the front section. I enjoyed this part a lot and took my time to make sure it was neatly done. I did sit and hand baste the edges so they were sharp when I finished pressing them.

I stopped at this time as it was too dark to sew. I also needed to go to the post office and mail the quilt to daughter. Also, I need to watch more of the video before I do the next part.

Knitting

I knit a lot on the socks yesterday. I got the ribbing done on sock #2 and started on the leg of sock #1.

The dark teal is starting to come around to this side of the sock so we will have swirling bands of it on these socks.

Thoughts

The only thing we got out of the storm yesterday was the high humidity. It was not the nicest thing to experience but we seem to get this a couple of times each summer. No matter what you do, the humidity does seep into the house and makes it uncomfortable to do things.

My neighbour will be moving starting in late August. He has a new job at a university in New Brunswick. I will miss them. My friend will probably be moving also but she isn't sure when or where. They have a lot of things to work out at this time. They have always said they would move if he got the job he wanted.

Today

I want to clean more of the bathroom this morning. I need to do more laundry and tidy up the kitchen. I would like to sew this afternoon and knit tonight. Another day at home which I will enjoy.

Until the next time........................................................
