New Sewing Projects Begun

Yesterday was a mix of sun and clouds with a high of 25C (humidex 28C). This morning it is cloudy and 17C. Today is supposed to be a mix of sun and clouds with a high of 30C (humidex 34C). We are under another heat warning until Monday night.

Lifestyle

I was out to make sandwiches and was home before 9:30 am. My job was to cut sandwiches and put them on the trays. I enjoy that job as I like to make them look nice.

When I got home, the robotic vacuum cleaner (Rosie) was sitting in the hall. She needed to have something removed from the roller. I cleaned her up, found the item (pen cap that was missing) and got her going again. She finished her job and did it again at 1 pm.

I had something to drink and then got busy. My big job was to scrub the rest of the kitchen floor. I scrubbed while my piriformis hurt like crazy. It was really stiff. I kept at it and got the job done. It was dirty, especially the grout. When done, I mopped the whole floor. I stood and admired how clean it looked.

I made dinner last night using a new recipe. It is egg roll in a bowl. I divided the recipe in half for 2 servings. I used lean ground pork as I had it in the freezer. I served it on rice. It was quite good.

I was out last night to water the vegetable boxes. I also weeded all the boxes. The deer haven't been back but I did notice they nibbled on one marigold. The rest are healthy as can be. The petunias are in bloom. I have pink, white, and red ones in the boxes and they look quite nice. I will not miss the boxes as I won't have to worry about the deer eating what I plant in them. The only thing I haven't worried about are the onions. The deer haven't touched them and they are getting big.

Sewing

I vacuumed the sewing and family rooms yesterday after lunch. It felt good having the floors clean once again.

I decided to cut out the winter dress for the rabbit. It is done and waiting for me to watch the video and start sewing it together.

I pinned the winter cape on the remaining plaid fabric and put it away.

I am deciding if it will be the outer part of the cape or the lining. I need to buy fabric for it as I would like a blue cotton to go with it.

Next up was to cut 2.5" strips of blue print and white to make the 9 patches for my quilt. I got 8 of them made.

I have to make 18 of them and will make a few extra so I can pick and choose the best for the quilt. The extras will be used in a doll's quilt.

I spent a lot of time being accurate when cutting and sewing. This is a new pattern for me and I am working out how to cut the pieces. The pattern wants you to cut out the 2.5" squares and I am doing strips piecing instead. A lot faster.

Knitting

I got the foot knit on the 2nd sock. I moved stitches so I can start on the toes tonight. Hopefully we will have socks tomorrow night.

Thoughts

I was quite busy yesterday. I got a lot more done than I had expected. The temperatures wasn't too bad when I was outside so I pushed myself to weed the boxes. I will do something each time the weather cools off so I can get my yard weeded. Inside, I will continue to clean the house.

I am happy to have started the quilt for my bedroom. It is the first step to decorating it. I know I will have a lot of fabric left over so I am going to order a pattern to make table runners for on the top of the furniture. They will be the same pattern as the quilt. I am looking forward to having this room done.

I have been watching the news on the flash flood in Texas. My heart goes out to those who have lost loved ones or who are looking for missing family members.

Today

I have a few small chores to do this morning and then I will spend the day sewing. I have to watch a video on how to make the winter dress and will do some on it. I will continue making 9 patches for the quilt. I hope I can knit tonight. I will have to water the tubs on the deck later this evening. It is going to be a bit of a rest day for me.

Until the next time.............................................................................
