Nine Blocks Completed

Yesterday was a mix of sun and clouds with a high of 27C (humidex 35C). This morning it is damp, windy, and thunderstorms are in the area. The temperature is 20C. Today is supposed to be wet with rain. We are having the remnants of Post-Tropical Cyclone Chantel. The high is to get to 25C.

Lifestyle

I was out to the grocery store before it got too muggy. I got what I needed and came home. Once home, I was making a plan when my phone rang. It was daughter-in-law and we planned our overnight trip to PEI for next week. We will leave early in the morning and stop in Moncton. We will be visiting a yarn shop before heading to PEI.

Once our plans were complete, I headed into the bathroom to start cleaning. I cleaned the window, the lights, and mirror. All were dusty and needed doing. In the span of an hour, I climbed in and out of the bath tub and up and down the ladder. I am ready to wipe down the walls around the tub.

I was outside before dinner to water the plants. I moved slowly to see if I could handle the humidity. I can and if I need to be outside more, I know I can do it as long as I have something to drink and wear a hat.

Thunder started early this morning and has been rumbling for a few hours. We have had some showers and are waiting for the downpour that is being predicted. I was out on the deck this morning and it is like sauna out there. The wind and rain are warm and the air is heavy with moisture.

Sewing

I sewed the 7 blocks that I had all the outer pieces cut. I now have 9 blocks completed and am ready to start cutting the outer pieces for the last 9 blocks.

I did sew the 6 blocks together for the doll's quilt. It is now ready for borders but will have to wait until the main quilt is done as I will be using scraps for it.

I want to make table runners for the furniture in my bedroom. I figured it out yesterday and need to measure the furniture today to see if 13" wide runners will work.

Knitting

I wound the yarn for the next pair of socks before leaving the sewing room.

The colour way excited me so I cast on the first sock after dinner and knit 15 rounds. The heel side of the sock.

And the foot side of the sock.

I can't wait to see the dark teal part of the yarn twist around the sock.

I had enough time to cast on the 2nd sock and knit 5 rounds on it.

Another pair of socks to excite me as I knit on them. I do need to look at patterns to knit something for the dolls.

Thoughts

Once this storm passes through, we are going to have cooler nights. It will be nice to open windows up and have cool fresh air in the house.

Grandson played his first professional game of soccer yesterday. They won the game 2-1 and grandson was on the field for both of the goals. He didn't get the minutes he wanted but was happy to play. He is the newest player on the team and needs to prove himself to get lots of playing time. I will be replying to him this morning as I was in bed when he posted.

When I watered the plants last night, I noticed the deer have nibbled on the rose bush. I have no buds left. That tells me their food supply is short. They haven't touched the tomatoes since I sprayed them and I will have to do that again once the rain is done.

Today

I need to do the balance sheet, fold laundry, and start wiping down walls in the bathroom. I have to go to the shed and get fertilizer for the plants on the deck. I want to cut out the pieces needed to finish the 9 remaining blocks for my quilt and sew a bit on the rabbit's dress. Tonight I will knit on the socks.

Until the next time..........................................................
