Yesterday was a mix of sun and clouds and a high of (drum roll) 18C. This morning it is cloudy and 14C. Today is suppose to be cloudy with a high of 19C.
Lifestyle
I did a bit more on the family tree yesterday morning before doing the balance sheet. I was avoiding the balance sheet as I had 2 weeks of receipts to enter. All went well and I was done in good time with (another drum roll) no errors.
My big job of the day was to clean my bedroom. I dusted and vacuumed it. I moved all the furniture to do the job. I also cleaned the windows on the inside. They were dirty with a couple of nose prints on one pane. I also cleaned the spare bedroom window. I didn't mop the floor as it was clean but it will need to be done the next time.
In the afternoon, I was outside for a bit. I picked up the extension for the down pipe and put it back on. I also put on one that was off and got one from the garage to put on another down spout. I'm ready for the rain that arrives tomorrow. I also drug an outdoor furniture cover from my yard and put it back into the rightful yard. It has been in my yard most of the winter. I also took the stakes out of the lawn so I know where to shovel to. It was so nice to be outside in the warm weather. I didn't wear a coat or a sweater outside it was so nice.
For those who wonder, we make sandwiches at our local hall as it has a health approved kitchen. These sandwiches are made for lunches after a funeral or a celebration of life. This group also does dinners for local groups and will have community dinners. It does not do anything for the homeless as it is about 10 km from town. There are several locations that do that in town.
Sewing
I decided to start prepping for the retreat. I started out pressing the fabric for the doll's quilt and the iron spluttered on one piece. I had to wash and starch it. The other pieces were cut out and I am ready to figure out the backing and binding.
Next up I sorted the charm pack squares into lights and darks. I took a picture and made it into black and white.
I sorted a bit more as I could see a dark and light in the wrong rows. I was happier with this sorting. I did spend a bit of time making sure that I liked how the light and dark looked so I didn't have two similar pieces together. They are pinned ready for me to draw a diagonal line so I can stitch on each side of it. I also measured the dog print panel and figured out how much fabric I need to buy to make a bag using it. I also got out thread I will use on each project so I can start packing them.Knitting
I didn't knit last night as I was tired and sore.
Thoughts
It is hard to believe that 5 years ago Nova Scotia had its first presumptive case of Covid. One of the TV/radio stations did an interview with the chief medical officer and the then premier of Nova Scotia. They talked about the saying "Stay the blazes home" and how it came about. They also talked about how we need to continue to use what we learned during the pandemic now which includes mental health. Though we did well, we did get criticized by one doctor in Ontario. What he said about us made no sense as other provinces were dealing with the same issue -- deaths in long term care facilities.
I was very sore yesterday and had to push myself to get things done. The barometric pressure is dropping as the storm comes in. It is still dropping this morning so today could see me get sore as the day progresses. So far I have little pain. I will push through it once again resting as necessary.
I am slowly getting upstairs cleaned. I am down to the living and dining areas. Both need a good cleaning and tidying up. I am realizing how easy it is to clean the house now that I have the upstairs decluttered and have a spot for everything. Downstairs will get done. I have done a lot down there but have more to get rid of.
Today
My goal this morning is to clean the living room. I will have to move all the furniture to vacuum, dust, clean windows, and mop. I want to continue working on prepping for the retreat this afternoon. I hope to get outside for a bit as it will be another warm day. I would like to work on the vest this evening as I want to finish it. I'm ready to start knitting socks once again.
Until the next time..........................................................
