A Very Busy Day

Yesterday was warm and sunny with a high of 25C. This morning it is sunny and 11C. Today is supposed to be sunny with a high of 27C (humidex 31C).

Lifestyle

I was reading some stuff on the internet yesterday before breakfast and I heard a noise in the back yard. I looked out and my neighbour was removing the vegetable boxes closest to the house-- taking them apart so he can move them. We chatted for a few minutes and I came in to eat.

Shortly after breakfast, the person who is taking the dirt arrived. Dirt was shovelled into bags and put into her vehicle. While she took it home, my neighbour started to remove the 4 other boxes. They were going to be impossible to take apart so I gave them to the lady who is taking the dirt. They were taken to her house at 8 pm last night. There are just 4 boxes of dirt left to be bagged and taken away.

I spent my morning making potato salad. I seem to have made the biggest mess going which is not normal for me. I got the salad made and the mess cleaned up. I also rounded up all the garbage and recycling and got it out. At noon the potato salad was in the fridge letting the flavours mingle and was admiring my clean kitchen.

I had a short nap yesterday afternoon and then puttered around until it was time to go work the bar at the community hall. The wedding was held at the hall at 4 pm and they ate at 5 pm. Daughter-in-law and I were able to set up the bar at 5 pm. I had to make a run for more liquior at 7 pm which is normal when we do a bar.

The reception was fun and different from the other 2 we worked. It was more of a time for people to visit. There were people from the Yukon and PEI for sure. I started for home at 8:30 pm and had to stay as daughter-in-law had to do some things. My extra 30 minutes was fairly busy but still fun. The bride and groom handed out cake and we even got cake. This was a wedding where the bride and groom were making sure the guests were well looked after.

I had a fairly bad IBS attack when I got home. Not sure what caused it but I am thinking it is tomatoes. I have been eating them every day. I am not stopping as I love them and have a lot of tomatoes ripening on my plants. On the other hand it might not be tomatoes and something that is hard to pinpoint.

Sewing and Knitting

None done yesterday. I napped during sewing time and got home too late to knit.

Thoughts

I used two different types of onions in the potato salad. One was mild and the other caused my eyes to water like crazy. I have to lay the onions out to dry so we can have them for winter. My one and only foray into growing onions was successful.

I slept in this morning as it was cool. I do feel better but it is going to take me a while to get over the heat. Though the nights will be cool, the days are going to be warmer.

It is a long weekend in Canada. When we first moved to Nova Scotia, most long weekends meant the stores would be closed on the day of the holiday. There are 10 days that retail businesses must be closed but there were a few more days that the stores were closed in the past. Now, those few days are open for shopping. The only exception is Remembrance Day in which stores must be closed.

Today

I have to do the balance sheet and pay some bills. I am planning on working on the quilt for a while. The fellow who is supposed to repair the roof is coming today so I need to be home for that and the removal of dirt from the back yard. I will be out for dinner but hope to do a bit of knitting some time today. A bit of a crazy day for me.

Until the next time...............................................................
