The Office Area

 My next area to work on is the "office space". This is the area that is next to the closet. I have a table and a desk in that area. It is the space the previous owner used as her sewing space.

The table area is usually a dumping ground for anything I am not using. It often looked like this. 

If I was missing something, I usually could find it on the table. I would clean it up as I thought I would use it to work on pattern making. In reality, I liked to do pattern drafting or modifications standing at the cutting table. The table would revert to the dumping ground. 

One of my better clean ups from about 2 years ago had it looking like this. 

It was good but it became a mess shortly after I cleaned it. The reason - I had too much on the table to do what I had thought I wanted to do. I was still hunting for items that were hidden in the containers. 

I decided to purge this area of unnecessary or unwanted item. I started out getting rid of binders. I do not look at the Design or Pattern Academy binders. I let go of them when I realized I look at the files on the computer. I let go of two small binders that I haven't used or looked at in many years. All notebooks, etc. that I thought I would use are gone. I kept one planner that I will use to write ideas in. 

I had two organizers and 2 baskets on the table. I am down to the two organizers. I let go of what I don't use. The peg board was purged also. I got rid of what I don't use and organized what I do use. Letting go of some things was hard but I did it as I knew I would never use them again. 

The end result of the table area was a huge transformation for me. It has never been this empty. It is so nice to be able to see what I use and not have to hunt for items. 

I have the planner on the table now and have been using it to write ideas in. I am working on not letting anything else reside on the table. I love how it looks and feels. 

The desk area is next. I have started and stopped when I found some of the Spousal Units items he had from when we had irrigation at the ranch and our own farms. I need to put them into a bag with his other things I have kept. I stalled as I had quite a few emotions surface. 

I will add a tab for that space when I get back to cleaning it. I stalled handling items that I have an emotional attachment to. I am working through those emotions at this time.
