Sewing For The Dolls 2024

I slowed down on sewing for the dolls last year. Instead of sewing lots of single items, I focused on sewing an outfit which included up to 4 items. This is time consuming but a lot of fun.

I did use some lace trim from the stash in the past year and will continue to use it this year. I did have to buy buttons as I was running low on certain ones for knit outfits. I should have almost enough for this year unless I need a specific colour or style of button.

I didn't focus on one style last year and probably won't this year. I focused more on using patterns I had. It was quite a bit of fun doing that. If it is historical, great. If modern, great also as I have ideas floating in my head all the time.

I will continue to make shoes for the dolls and need to work on different styles. I also need to buy more insoles and soles as I have made a lot of shoes. Most are simple shoes which helped me learn the skills needed to make them look professional.

October 2024

I knit a sweater for the doll's blue skirt. It is cute and will be nice for one of the doll's wardrobes. I used the Little Picot pattern that I had tested several years ago.

Fall 2024

I am behind on posting what I have made for the dolls. Here is what I made.

Oh So Kat's Skirt

This was one I wanted to make as I needed to sew something simple but cute. This delivers every time I make it.

Colonial Williamsburg Outfit

This one was a challenge as I decided to make it out of homespun cotton. It frayed if I handled it too much. It turned out very nice in the end.

Bias Cut Dress

Sewing With Cinnamon's September topic was sewing on the bias. I used a simple pattern I had in the patterns collection and made it. It was to learn how to lay out the pattern pieces correctly so they don't twist. Though not the best pattern for showing the drape, it isn't as boxy as it was when I first made it.

Swedish Inspired Dress

And with the sweater I knit.

July 22, 2024

I had enough time before leaving to Sweden to make the French hood for the Renaissance era dress. It finishes the outfit.

July 18, 2024

I knit a sweater and hat and sewed a pleated skirt using the Nova Scotia plaid. I love how this outfit turned out.

July 4, 2024

I decided to make an Orange Blossom outfit. Orange Blossom is one of the characters from the Strawberry Shortcake collection. This is my version of how I think Orange Blossom would dress today.

May 14, 2024

I spent about 6 weeks making this Renaissance outfit for the dolls. It was labour intensive with lots of hand sewing, bead work and learning new techniques.

I have also started making shoes for the outfit and they are ready to be put together.
