One Sock Completed

Yesterday was a bit sunny with a high of -5C (windchill -12C). This morning it is cloudy and -1C (windchill -6C). Today is supposed to be a mix of snow and rain with a high of 5C.

Lifestyle

I was out for osteopathy yesterday morning. I had quite the session with the treatment being the most aggressive I've had. Muscles were worked on as they were tight. Even my SI joint released with a good crack. Though I wasn't sore when the session was over, I was tired to the point of exhaustion.

After the session, I went into Sackville and went to Dollarama. I got a few items I needed though what I really wanted wasn't in that store. That is the 4th Dollarama I've gone to that hasn't had that product. I know it can be gotten in Canada but I haven't seen it here. I will keep looking.

Once home, I sat with heat on and rested. I even had a short nap. I actually had no energy and didn't get recycling out to the road until 6 pm. I was lucky that I didn't have pain from sore muscles though I am a bit sore this morning. I have taken Tylenol and put heat on the sore spot.

Sewing

Though I didn't sew yesterday, I did watch the Sewing With Cinnamon post and video on 18th century stays. The pattern used is from Thimbles and Acorn which I have.

I decided to do some research on what Acadian women wore and it was interesting. Before 1755 many Acadian women wore the strapless version and they were either lightly boned, unboned, or quilted for the working woman. Many stays were made from plain fabrics though some were made from striped or printed fabrics.

I have ordered boning from Amazon and will make both the boned and quilted version of the stays. I will start with the quilted version. Instead of batting, I plan on interfacing the fabric with interfacing and then stitching the boning lines.

There is a book about Acadian clothing in the Atlantic provinces. It is a book that I have to go and check out vs an ebook that I would like to read. I can buy the ebook but it is expensive for a short term research project. I may try the library here and see if they will bring it in for me.

Knitting

I finished the first sock last night and love the colour of the yarn.

I also started the 2nd sock and got 11 rounds done on it.

I am hoping they will be done by the end of the month. Then on to more socks next month with a bit of doll knitting included.

Thoughts

It is snowing lightly out right now and the wind is blowing. I am hoping I don't have to shovel the driveway this morning and that the warmer weather and salt I have thrown on the driveway will clean it off. My muscles and joints need a day of rest from the session I had yesterday.

I watched a video by Knitty Natty and she is inventorying her yarn stash. I downloaded it into Excel and made a minor change to the Project column to include socks. I will slowly get the yarn inventoried over one or two afternoons. It will help me know what yarn I have and how much I use this coming year.

I am still trying to read 30 to 60 minutes most nights. The book I am reading is very interesting and I will put it aside once I am done so I can take it back to the used book store and look for other books I might want to read.

Today

I am going to do a bit of kitchen and bathroom cleaning and then start cleaning the dining area. It needs a good cleaning and I am ready to tackle it. I am hoping to sew this afternoon and knit tonight.

Until the next time.................................................
