Yesterday was wet with a high of 4C. This morning it is cloudy with showers in the area and 2C. Today is suppose to be damp with a high of 6C.
Lifestyle
I started the morning with laundering the sheets of my bed. While that was happening, I got busy and did the balance sheet. It was done fast as I only had 4 entries. It was a very low spend week. Everything balanced and I got it all put away in great time.
I set Rosie the Robot to work cleaning the bathroom floor. I took the recycling out to the bins in the garage. Once that was done, I cleaned the bathroom which included dusting the tub (never used in 7 years). I also mopped the floor. As great as Rosie is at sweeping, I need to mop floors once every 3 to 4 weeks especially if they are tile.
The laundry was ready to put into the dryer so I decided to clean the dryer vent. I use the Swifer duster to do that and try to do it 2-3 times a year. Once done, I got the laundry into the dryer and sat down for a rest. I was done for the morning.
I did do some research in the short time I had before lunch. Looked at my great grandfather's brother's family and found some information on that family. While my great grandfather and his sister came from Newfoundland to Nova Scotia in 1884, this great uncle stayed in Newfoundland.
Late in the afternoon, I made the bed and started dinner. I cooked a chicken breast in the Instant Pot for shredding and used the chicken broth to cook rice for dinner. I also cleaned up the kitchen and sat down for the night. I was sore due to the barometric pressure being low all day and it is still dropping.
Sewing
I worked on the rabbit yesterday. I bit of swearing happened when I tried to sew up the back seam of the body. I took it out and basted the seam together before stitching it closed. It was time to stuff the body. I stuffed it as full as I could, hand stitched the seam closed about an inch and stuffed some more. I then hand stitched from the top down leaving just over an inch open. I stuffed in some more stuffing. I stitched the opening together. The body was done.
Once that was done, I decided to press fabric and cut out a bag. This is a trial bag to see if I like it. The fabrics are about 10 years old and an impulse purchase. Time to use them up even if only to make a pattern to see if I like it.
There was left over fabric that I couldn't donate so I started to cut out another doll's quilt. I have the squares cut and other pieces ready to cut for the borders. I will use something for the backing and left over batting from quilts.
At that point I was ready to stop cutting as I was sore. I had a few nasty words to say to the weather. It was time for heat on the sore spots.Knitting
I did knit last night. I picked up the gusset stitches and that was quite the job. Picking up stitches in black yarn is hard work but I got it done with no major issues.
Sock #1 (orange row markers) has two rows knit on the gusset. Sock #2 (blue row markers) has a few stitches knit on it. I am ready to knit the gusset which includes decreasing every other row until 36 stitches are left on the back of the sock.
The stripes will be narrow while knitting the gussets which happens on all striped socks. Then the stripes will go back to about 10 rounds when I knit the foot.Thoughts
I saw a map which shows spring will be late in eastern Canada. The trees do not have their leaves yet. The spring flowers are just starting to bloom in sheltered spots. It is depressing to look outside. We are to have warmer weather starting tomorrow and hopefully it will stay. We are ready for it to arrive.
I am worrying a lot about the economic climate in the world. I know it is stressing me as I have had a couple of panic attacks lately. Add to it the federal election here in Canada and one wonders what is going to happen. I have been hunting for videos that will relax me. I do have several I watch that fit the bill. Some I look at jar my nerves immediately. Others take a while to jar my nerves. I am trying to find a balance in my life where I can do things without feeling rushed or pressured. I want to enjoy what I do even when doing housework.
I hope to get downstairs and work on my craft supplies and get some more decluttering done and some items made. I want to have the family room cleaned up and ready for me to enjoy myself working and relaxing in.
Today
I have an osteopathy appointment this morning and then want to do a bit of shopping afterwards. Once home, I hope to work on the bag I cut out and knit tonight.
Until the next time......................................................
I, too, worry about the economic climate, and also the political climate here in the U.S.A. For me, it is calming to read the the series of books "No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency" by Alexander McCall Smith. The stories and people are interesting and values of the main characters are inspiring. There is a very well-done series of videos on You Tube about these fine people, too.
