More Projects Cut Out

Yesterday was a mix of sun and clouds with wind. The high got to 19C. This morning it is clear and 5C. Today is supposed to be sunny with a high of 23C.

Lifestyle

My first job of the day was to do the balance sheet. May is done, balanced, and put to bed. I had no problems with it yesterday which was nice.

Next up, I got down on my hands and knees to wash the floor at the top of the stairs, the stairs and the landing at the front door. The floor at the top of the stairs was clean. Rosie the Robot has done an excellent job of mopping that area. The stairs were dirty as I hadn't done them for a while. The front landing was dirty as it is where dirty shoes are kept. It was nice to have that area clean once again. It was also nice to stretch my back and hips while doing the job.

My last job of the morning was to cook chicken in the Instant Pot. I use the chicken in a lot of my meals plus I get around 2 cups of broth for cooking rice. I have to cook a pot of rice today so it will be nice to have fresh broth to cook it in.

The company was here to mow the lawn yesterday. They are down a man so they are behind hence why they didn't show up on Friday. They will be doing the hedge when they have time.

I was out to visit my friend yesterday. We had a good chat and a few laughs. She got home from her mom's 98th birthday on Friday.

Sewing

I spent some time cutting up the last of the fabric I bought in April. I got a snack bag and a mug rug out of the fabric with a usable piece left. Not sure what I will use it for. I was able to use large scraps of interfacing for the bag and a piece of left over fusible fleece for the mug rug.

I sewed the arms on the rabbit.

I am not sure if I like where they are or if they need to be down a bit lower. I am going to live with it until after I make her dress.

Her dress is going to be made from the fabric I bought in January.

I did some hand stitching also. I got the next section edges hand sewn down and am ready to hand stitch the leaves down.

It is slow sewing but I am enjoying it. I don't rush while I am doing it and focus on the tiny stitches I am making.

I starched about 7 meters of fabric yesterday and it is drying in the bathroom. Three pieces were at least 2 meters or more in length and one is about .5 meter. I will be pressing starched fabric for quite a while but I can start cutting out strips for my quilt.

Knitting

I didn't wind yarn yesterday so I dug out the yarn and pattern for the doll's coat. I cast on and started to knit. I had to unknit as I dropped a stitch. The yarn is slippery so I have to watch that. I did 21 rows last night.

It is an ombre coloured yarn and it looks dirty to me. But I am sure it will look okay when the coat is done. It is hard to envision how it will look for the whole coat.

Thoughts

The wind didn't blow as hard yesterday as it has. The warm weather is here for a few days. This morning is the coolest we will have this week. We may not get any frost now until late fall. Once the hot spell moves out, I will plant the flowers and vegetables. I still need to look for peppers and leeks.

I have been monitoring what I have been eating for almost a week. I stopped snacking which was hard for me. I was on a roll wanting trigger foods (chocolate, sugar, ice cream, and chips). Once I got that under control, I started portion control. I have a bit more work to do on that but I am almost there. Mentally I am ready to loose the weight I gained even if the dietician doesn't agree with me. It was a struggle listening to what the dietician say she thought I should be eating foods I know are trigger foods for me. I tried what she said and realized that I can't have them. I feel better when I eat healthy and my body likes me more when I am not packing around the extra pounds.

Today

I have to do some more cleaning upstairs this morning plus make a couple of dinners to have on hand. I am thinking rice bowls with chicken. This afternoon I want to sew and will knit tonight. I also have to look after the plants in the garage. They need watering and fertilizer.

Until the next time............................................................
