Yesterday was a mix of sun and clouds with wind. The high got to 9C. This morning it is cloudy and 3C. Today is supposed to be sunny with a high of 10C.
Lifestyle
I was out the door early yesterday to shop with daughter-in-law. Our first stop was Costco. It opened early we think due to the fact it is closed Good Friday and Easter Sunday. We went in to get what we needed and as we shopped, the store got very busy. Forty-five minutes later we were done and happy to be gone. I got nothing as I find that most items have too much for me to use in a timely fashion.
Our next shop was the Asian store. I love that store. It was fun to look at items but we were in and out quickly. It was busy in there but not too bad. It was time to head out of the city and shop in a smaller community.
Our last store was the grocery store. It is a big store and we did quite a bit of walking. It was interesting to see a display of "Made In Nova Scotia" products. One was maple syrup which I haven't seen before.
We were home before noon and both of us were sore. Walking on cement floors is hard on sore muscles and we were feeling it. After lunch I crashed on the couch and slept. It was a combination of not sleeping well and the sore muscles.
Sewing
I thought about sewing but didn't. I had hoped to go outside and do a bit of yard work but that didn't happen. The wind was too cold.
Knitting
I did knit last night and got the gusset done on the second sock.
I have about 5 more nights of knitting and they will be done. They have been so much fun to knit and I will miss watching the stripes grow as I knit the rows. The next pair will be tweedy looking.Thoughts
Spring is coming slowly. There seems to be leaves unfurling on the trees but they aren't green yet. The weeping willow I can see out the dining room window has turned from looking reddish to yellow which are new leaves. My neighbour has one daffodil that has a yellow bud on it. Progress even if it is slow.
Today is the first day of advance voting for the Canadian federal election. It seems strange to have advance polling on Easter weekend but it happened. It will be over in 10 days and we will see where the dust settles. This election has been different than those in the past. Very different in tone and actions. We not only listen to what the leaders are saying, we have to deal with the world economy, and what is happening in Canada to break down interprovincial barriers. It has been a lot to take in.
I watched a video on how a YouTuber who talks about minimal living and how they live minimally. In reality, they lived minimally in their house and their out building were full of stuff. Her ex-husband did a video on that and I wonder how this will affect her YouTube channel. I wondered what happened to all the items she purged from her home as she never went to the thrift store. I have implemented a few of her ideas which work well for me. I do watch other people who are trying to go minimal but they have drawers stuffed with items that need to be purged. Clean off the counter and shove stuff into a full drawer is not living minimally in my books.
I will confess that I am not at the level of minimalism I want to be at. I am working on it slowly but I do get side tracked, procrastination sets in, and I ignore it. I need to get back into it and either sell it at a garage sale or take it to the thrift store. Probably both. I know that our long winter has slowed me down and I need to get back at it again. I allowed items to creep in and I need to deal with it once again.
Today
I am going to make a batch of buns for Easter dinner and while the dough rises I will go out and vote. I do hope to sew this afternoon and knit tonight.
Until the next time................................................................
