Yesterday was a fun sewing afternoon for me. I did what I wanted to do in the sewing room and relaxed and de-stressed.
In the morning we canned stewed tomatoes. I add onions and peppers that the Spousal Unit cuts up for me and cook the skinned tomatoes for a good half hour before putting them into the jars. By the time I got finished at 12:30, I was in a foul mood. Not sure why, but I was. It wasn’t anyone or anything. It was just me.
Stewing in the roaster.
In the jars.
Then I had fun. Lots of fun. My first item to sew was a Halloween table runner for Daughter-in-Law. As I cut and sewed, I felt my ugly mood leave.
I am looking for buttons to put on this; Halloween ones though I might just get plain orange ones and sew them on with black thread.
Next on the list was hemming a pair of jeans, also for Daughter-in-Law. I was thrilled at how the stitching turned out. I used a heavier thread that is recommended for jeans, a jean’s needle, and regular thread in the bobbin. The length was cut an inch longer and double folded, steamed well prior to stitching. I would have hammered the seams if the machine had troubles stitching but that wasn’t necessary.
Lastly, I set up an embroidery project that is taking longer than I anticipated. I am making the Dude a small Halloween bag. You do it in the hoop twice and then sew it together leaving an opening.
As the Dude is a diabetic, I will put in a couple of toys for him and send it over for Halloween.
The orange thread takes almost 3 hours to stitch out. When I finish the first side, I will set it aside and do the second side next week when I have some time.
I have been thinking about the Christmas Craft Bazaar that I am taking part in in late November. I have a few things done but need to make some more items. On my list are:
- Car seat organizers
- Toy car track and tote
- Reusable shopping bags
I might get a few other items done but only time will tell.
Today is basically a sewing day. I have to do some embroidery. There is only a couple of short interruptions. I am going to start on the next creation. The jacket is on hold until I get some other hand sewing done.
