Friday was one of those days where I was going six ways for Sunday all morning and for part of the afternoon. I had several down times waiting where I folded some of the fabric and then I worked on the white shirt.
The white shirt made good progress as I used those short periods of time to work on it. I added the front button bands and did the top stitching. I love both my edging and stitch in the ditch feet for perfect top stitching. I set my stitch width at 1.8 for both feet and stitch length at 3.0 for my Husqvarna Viking machines.
I got the collar done but there is a bit of operator error. When I sew the collar back seam together, I need to take a deeper seam. I know that but forgot to do it. I did the curves on the neckband according to the instructions but they don’t look like they should. More than likely more operator error. But on the whole, I like the process; I just need to perfect it to suit me. I do have ideas.
This is part of my learning curve. If the next collar band isn’t what I want, back to what Ron Collin’s taught me. I like his method but I would like an alternate method also.
Just before lunch I went out and did my 13/14 laps around the yard. It was cool but not unreal; we are starting to get a bit of winter. I know watching what I am eating and doing these laps is working; my coat is a bit looser than it was on Jan. 1, 2012. The scales will tell the story of weight loss on Monday. But if my hunger pains are anything, I hope there will be a decent loss. Today I could eat the door knobs, I have been so hungry. I have refrained but it was hard.
Pauline from P'thrifty Sewing gave a wonderful sounding recipe for bread and I have drooled over it. But the weight loss gods will not bless me if I make it and eat it. So I am refraining from making it. But we did do a fun potato dish for dinner tonight.
Potatoes au Son (Recipe is from our Son)
Cut potatoes into small chunks (can be peeled prior to doing that if you wish) and toss into a casserole. Dice 1/2 red pepper and a small onion into it. Add Italian seasoning and salt to what you think you will like. Pour in enough olive or canola oil to coat. Put on lid and bake at 350-375F oven for 40 to 60 minutes.
I usually make enough for 2 meals as we heat it again in the oven or microwave the next night. You can also put them into foil pouches and cook them on low on the BBQ. A nice alternative to mashed potatoes when having steak or hamburgers or pork chops.
Until tomorrow....................................

Love a crisp white shirt - can never have enough in the wardrobe. Haven't heard of a stitch in the ditch feet - need to check if there is one for my Janome as it sounds like a good investment.
Good luck for Monday...
I really really need a crisp white shirt - have the fabric so must get going on this - yours is looking lovely.
My bread was fab and I have made another loaf today turned out just the same so the recipe is a winner - but I cut it in half and gave half to Mike to take to London - I have a week in my cottage on my own so should help me keep on track.
