A Top for This Month

It warmed up! Well, it didn’t get as cold as expected but there is still a wind and wind chill factor. I won’t be heading out to the city until it warms up on Sunday. I don’t have to and I won’t. The joys of being retired. When I worked, I had to face this weather every day and always said I would not go out into it if I didn’t have to when I retired.

I read the instructions for the Butterick messenger bag Wednesday night and I got confused with it. I began by tracing all the pieces needed for the bag and there is a lot of them; more than I expected. It took me over 2 hours to trace all the pieces.

While I was doing all that tracing, I had the design stitching out on the sleeve. A few minor problems with it though. When I inserted a pre-wound bobbin, I had issues so I had to shut down the machine and started again with a bobbin of embroidery thread. Then at the very end I had issues using a good bobbin. Not sure what it is but I think I will try to update my machine to see if that will help. At the end of the day, I got one sleeve done, the darts sewn in the front and the messenger bag cut out of the fashion fabric.

I am loving the high contrast in this design. It is turning how pretty much how I had visualized it. Add red crystals and it could be popular.

The electrician was in today and got the new plug-in installed in the living room. We are trying to be at electrical code for resale. Now the Spousal Unit can finish gyrocing that wall, put on the layers of mud and paint. The electrician was surprised at how much we have done and told us that the people who bought is wife’s grandparent’s house is doing the same type of renovations as we are. It seems he comes to our house to do ours and within a couple of weeks, he is up there doing what they want. He is enjoying what both parties are doing to the two houses.

All the closet doors in the hallway have two coats of primer on both sides. Even that area is starting to look brighter. Everything is moving along nicely. I don’t know where I am going to put the items at the desk area as it needs two coats of primer also. We are running out of places to put things. The joys of renovating.

Today I have some running around for literacy and Daughter is coming over to do the lining for her dress. I will stitch out the second sleeve and maybe cut the interfacing and lining cut out for the purse. I doubt I will get much more done today.

Until tomorrow..............................

OMG did you trace those pieces out using paper and wheel???? looks like a lot of hard work - is this what you normally do with patterns.

There are a lot of things that I wont do that I have to do now when I retire lol
