A Slow Day–NOT

It snowed early this morning. There is about an inch of it on the ground and the area looked beautiful when we got up this morning.

Yesterday morning I started off making chilli in the crock pot. I used this recipe. Instead of chicken, I used hamburger and spicy sausage meat. I did change a few things with this recipe using what I had on hand. I added a medium onion chopped and some frozen leeks. Didn’t add chipotle chilli or the sweet potato (none available at our local grocery). I thought I had beef broth but it wasn’t there so I mixed up a pouch of dry onion soup mix with 2 cups of water. This chilli was served over rice for dinner and tasted great.

It was suppose to be a slow day on Friday to account for low energy. I had cleaned up the sewing room and was going to work on the messenger bag for a couple of hours. My goal was to  sew the overlays onto the flap and body portion of the bag. Almost but not quite happened.

I ended up with a person buying one of my sewing machines and getting ski pants mended. I sewed her wedding and bridesmaids’ dresses. They are going for an overnight ski trip which they have dubbed “Our Honeymoon”.

Daughter was over so we could do the design on the lilac shirt. That turned out to be a marathon. Ideas flowed and so did coloured jeans and fabric. The pile of fabric is large.

The lilac satin is the next shirt to make and I will be using the white fabric right  underneath it. It has these lovely flowers on it that I will be removing to add to the top.

Most of the flowers need to have the white stone sewn securely on them. I am hoping that there will be enough for another top for the rental cupboard.. I know there is enough fabric for a top for the rental cupboard. I will be making the two at the same time; one a smaller size than the other. The smaller one will have embroidery on it.

And I was out for Story Time at the Library. There were 16 people present for this Family Literacy activity and every child went home with a book. So did 3 of the moms. Two moms brought their 3-4 month old babies. But the 3 year old stole the show. She loves Curious George books and when I showed the book on my i-Pad, she grabbed it. As I talked, I showed her how to turn the pages and she sat for 10 minutes at my feet looking at the book.

In all it was another busy day in our household.

Until tomorrow.......................................
