Yesterday we had our first real taste of winter in two months. The wind was from the north and the temperature dropped all day. As it was –15C with the wind chill factor, I did not walk my laps. I did a few extra runs up and down the stairs. I wasn’t going out with the wind in my face. Too many risks. I will walk again as soon as it becomes calm.
I worked on the white shirt most of the day. I got it completed to the hem, buttonholes and buttons. Then I saw something on the cuff. It looked like something off the iron. So I rubbed some stain remover onto it and put it into the washer on a rinse cycle to get rid of it.
Horsemanship shirts have to fit well; they can’t be baggy or balloon out from the waist of your jeans. They have to be sleek and fit into your jeans smoothly. To meet that end, I put darts in the shirt and then curved the waist in a good 1 to 1 1/4”. It fits a lot smoother in the body.
I did get another piece of broadcloth pressed, folded and onto the shelf. This piece is 60” wide and a peach colour. I usually only get 60” wide broadcloth in black or white. And much to my surprise, there is a turquoise blue piece that wide also. My hunch states I found it in the $2.14/ meter fabrics at Walmart prior to them shutting down cut fabrics, trims, etc. Walmart in Dawson Creek had some wonderful fabrics in that section and I bought them for shirts. Now they can be muslins or linings for craft items.
Today the shirt will be finished and I am going to work on the curtain toppers in my sewing room. It is time to do them and see if there is enough left over fabric for a runner on the white dresser.
For weight loss (or as Shannon says “Taming the Arse”), I lost another pound for a total of 6 pounds. We had a treat this week of ice cream and raspberries. That won’t come around again for a while. As I didn’t walk yesterday so I now need to clean up the exercise room (again) and start doing exercises in there while the weather is cold.
Until tomorrow..................................

well done on your weight loss Ann - this is getting competitive you're half a pound up on me boo hoo. Still I will come back fighting this week ha ha.
The white shirt looks stunning. The temperature where you live sounds frightening so good idea to keep indoors for your exercise.
good luck - loved the cartoon.
Shirt is excellent - great execution of the details. Have you picked buttons for it yet???
I am so happy I finally found your blog again, as I am from interior BC and used to live near Falkland (aka Falkland Stampede)so I find your sewing rodeo gear very interesting. However, I am currently living in NWT and today our weather is -31, with windchill making it -41, so I have major adjusting to do to the weather! Northern lights are gorgeous tho.
I haven't gone too far back in the stuff I have missed on your blog (about 6 months) but need to do some weight loss myself. Are you following a plan, or just managing on your own?
